There are 19 comments on the Free Republic story from Jul 28, 2013, titled Why evolutionary materialism leads to the unreality of your existence. In it, Free Republic reports that:

American Christian author Dr. Frank Turek notes that Cambridge-trained Ph.D. Stephen Meyer's New York Times best-seller, "Darwin's Doubt," is creating a major scientific controversy.

Oh, but ID doesn't have anything to do with religion, nope! It's just them lying atheist Darwinists who say it is!

It's Evolution that's a religion, that's why there are so many worshipers of it.

BILLIONS and BILLIONS of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Confucianists, Daoists, Shinto, Sikhs, Pagans, Wiccans, etc..

Fortunately, NONE of them confuse the SCIENCE of evolution they study and learn in THOUSANDS of universities, museums, research laboratories, excavation sites, research hospitals, etc. with the Gods they worship in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, etc..

It is ONLY idiot "fundamentalist xristian and muslim creationists" who think biology is a "religion". Obviously, since they derogatorily use the word "religion" to denigrate SCIENCE, they must NOT have a very high opinion of religion. Wonder what their "god" would think of that?

The Religion of Evolution is not science. It would be removed from biology text books if it wasn't for the unshakable faith of it's adherents. Science is observation & experimentation, you DO NOT observe let alone experiment on past events. No fool believes you can, perhaps you are a fool. Your problem.

What idiot validates his belief by saying billions of Jews, Pagans, Christians etc do this or for dont do it? Are you nuts or what? No you not nuts, you just don't think. Now do yourself a favour & save us time: THINK

Good thing that no one cares what you think.

You'll be on your death bed, gasping out your last breaths and SCIENCE, biology and the Theory of Evolution will STILL be going strong. BILLIONS of people all around the world will know all about the Theory of Evolution and it's importance to biology and science ... and NO ONE will ever recall your pathetic little opinions.

There will be no evolution on my death bed. There will be no science or biology. The only life that will be there will not be bios but zoe - look that up.

Billions of people around the world have been deceived into believing evolution & you are one of them. You are a statistic of folly and none of these fools will recall my opinion because they won't undrestand it. They are irretrievably lost.

Keep sinking into he abys of ignorance & calling upon you god "science" all the way down, it's a very, very deep pit.

I'm pretty sure that everyone reading this thread can see for themselves which one of us is ignorant.

Here's a challenge for you, when you are lying in your death bed, turn on the TV or open a newspaper or magazine (if they still exist) and see if the articles in the science section are reporting on new discoveries confirming the ToE or your "creationism".

Hint: in the 2300+ years that you "funnydie xristian creationists" have been working on it, you have come up with exactly ZERO research or empirical evidence for this "creationism" of yours. You will still have exactly ZERO research or empirical evidence when you are rattling out your last breath.

Heck, you've had 4400+ years to find that big wooden barge and you've been an ABYSMAL FAILURE at that as well, and your bronze age, goat herder fairy tale "history book" tells you EXACTLY where to look.

Ever heard of FORENSIC SCIENCE?

Forensic science and a high % of all OTHER science is "observation & experimentation" on the EVIDENCE LEFT BEHIND by past phenomena.

You don't need to be there, experimenting in real time, in order for it to follow the scientific method and be real science.

Get an education, will you?

Really? Tell that to the evangelical Christians at Baylor University, the "largest Baptist University in the world," where the students go on mission trips, etc.

This is from the Biology Department at Baylor:
http://www.baylor.edu/biology/index.php...

Statement on Evolution
"Evolution, a foundational principle of modern biology, is supported by overwhelming scientific evidence and is accepted by the vast majority of scientists. Because it is fundamental to the understanding of modern biology, the faculty in the Biology Department at Baylor University, Waco, TX, teach evolution throughout the biology curriculum. We are in accordance with the American Association for Advancement of Science's statement on evolution. We are a science department, so we do not teach alternative hypotheses or philosophically deduced theories that cannot be tested rigorously."

Also, here from the Baylor Geology Department:
http://www.baylor.edu/geology/index.php...

Quote:

"Question: Does the fossil record support the idea of biological change over time (biological evolution)?

Yes. The fossil record clearly indicates...

a progression in complexity of organisms from very simple fossil forms in the oldest rocks (>3.5 billion years old) to a broad spectrum from simple to complex forms in younger rocks,

that some organisms that were once common are now extinct, and

that the living organisms inhabiting our world today are similar (but generally not the same) as organisms represented as fossils in young sedimentary deposits, which in turn have evolutionary ancestors represented as fossils in yet older rocks.

Mammals, for example, are prevalent today and can be traced back in the fossil record for approximately 200 million years, but are not present as mammals in the fossil record before that; however, fossil forms that have reasonably been interpreted to be associated with the evolutionary precursors to mammals are found in older rocks.

Whether biological evolution occurs has not been a matter of scientific debate for more than a century. It is considered a proven fact."

I've heard it all, you don't need to be there in time to observe & experiment! Talk about magic. May be you looked through a time machine to see dinosaurs evolving. What a joke?

Of course I've heard of forensic science also called historical science. Detectives don't observe a murder, that's not rocket science

You've made SEVERAL rather glaring mistakes in your post.

First, you are assuming that evolution is something which happens in the past only. It's not. It's an ongoing process which is happening today and will continue to happen into the future.

Second, your claim that no science can be performed in such a way as to grant insight into past events is absolutely false. This claim would mean that each and every time we do a process in chemistry, the outcome is a total surprise. That the entire field of forensics is absolutely useless. That you can't use physics do determine how a crashed car ended up in a ditch.

Third, "faith" is the belief in something in the absence of evidence. Evolution has evidence. It is the best understood and most studied part of any science ever. We know more about evolution than we do about gravity. Evolution makes reliable predictions about the future of diseases as well as what life was like in the past.

Physicists WISH they had something as far reaching and obvious as evolution.

Honestly, to claim that evolution is false you would need to believe that you are genetically identical to both your mother and your father - an impossibility.

Detectives don't observe a murder. They observe the EVIDENCE left by the act of murder and then using the evidence can deduce the specific events which occurred.

Paternity tests don't witness the sexual act, they look at the EVIDENCE left by the sexual act and determine through DNA analysis who the father is.

You don't need to witness an event to figure out what happened.

If you come home to a tipped over garbage can and a dog looking guilty, you don't assume it was Jesus' second coming that made it happen.

Why would I shred those quotes from the science department at an evangelical CHRISTIAN university? They are pure gold in a debate like this.

One the one hand, we have a dumb Jesus Freak repeating the same old ignorant nonsense about science, and...

On the other hand, we have qualified biologists and geologists who also happen to be conservative Christians saying "Yes, OBVIOUSLY evolution occurs and the evidence for it is overwhelming. Only a FOOL would deny it."

“What, me worry?”
