They just want every body who disagrees with them to be struck by lightning and go straight to hell where they (we) belong in their opinion. We are "mean" even to question where we came from after all we have the "book" that tells us how God zapped us into being, so what are we thinking by hinting that maybe the "book" is wrong. That maybe nature took its course and here we are. And we are heretics even to suggest a 2000 year old book "might" have a few flaws.

I agree. Also, I think that if some with a fundamentalist religious viewpoint even whispered that maybe some of the things in the Bible should not be believed literally, they would fear rejection from other members of their church, or family, or circle of friends. They would be stepping out of the "one mind, one view" thinking of the fundamentalist control.

Here is another site, that goes over the preachings of Paul, who never even met Jesus, and is the one who has actually founded the Christian religions as we know them.
