Let me put it like this. Anyone that comes here looking for an answer will not get one. BS is all that comes from this forum. BS from both sides in heaps and piles. Both feed off each other and that is what keeps them going.

Katydid. Dogen. FossilBob. I'm sure there's one or two others who aren't strictly atheist either.
Doesn't matter though, as they are educated enough to understand the difference between their theological/philosophical positions and science. If this yutz wants to take the fundamentalist atheist route like Skippy, he might be much happier here:

Thanks but no thanks. I don't much care for atheists chats. Plus I have chatted with Bob of Quantum-Faith before and he is a bigot and that site seems to be his hang out.

Kong. You are stuck in the middle. I have seen that about your for years. You want to believe in God but science says you shouldn't.

The personal philosophical definitions you gave earlier are of human construction. Actual humans will blur the boundaries between these definitions.

"Agnostic" comes closest to my belief system.

"Word History: An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist. The term agnostic was fittingly coined by the 19th-century British scientist Thomas H. Huxley, who believed that only material phenomena were objects of exact knowledge. He made up the word from the prefix a-, meaning "without, not," as in amoral, and the noun Gnostic. Gnostic is related to the Greek word gnosis, "knowledge," which was used by early Christian writers to mean "higher, esoteric knowledge of spiritual things"; hence, Gnostic referred to those with such knowledge."

I wasn't sure if you were or not, but you are definitely on that list. Personally, I am not generally interested in the religious beliefs of others. It isn't really an issue for me, but the fundies get all knotted up about it.

Kong I believe I am going to helll so I would benefit if it all was a fairytale. But I do believe so I am doomed to an eternity of fire. Some here make fun of that but that is ok, I know I will see them there.

I'll hazard a clarification as to my personal belief system:

I consider myself a 'spiritual agnostic' of some flavor. I'm still searching for the "Truth", but I'm quite certain it's not in the literal words of one particular ancient book.

Spiritual agnosticism is:

the view that universal ethics and love are far more important than claims about any deity
and trivialize the arguments supporting or rejecting such claims.

A spiritual agnostic would say:

"It doesn't matter which religion you might follow, nor does it matter whether or not you believe in God. What matters is what you do, not what you believe."

Funny thing is science tries to tell people there is no God, it is all about evolution so throw God out with all you believe and follow us and many do it in a drop of the hat.

Now if God showed up and said I am real and science has lied to you so throw out your PC's, phones and TV's. Everyone would say but but but can you give us another choice?

People so easily throw away God from people saying look at your PC, your TV, your phone you see what science has given you along with evidence of evolution. What has God given you but a book of lies? That is pretty much how it is said and done now days. Even on here I have seen many defend science with TV's, phones and PC's saying if not for science you would not have all that.

Well, I guess you've got me figured out <eyeroll>.

It's not what I "want". I do not come at my personal philosophy lightly.

I was FULLY involved in church as a kid through early teens (Church, Sunday School, Choirs, Vacation Bible School -- participant AND assistant, etc).

The more I learned about the history of the Bible, and the history of the early church, the more I realized it had some serious problems.

You may THINK you have me pegged, but you haven't a clue about me, and I doubt you ever will.

When I say I don't care what religious views others follow, I mean that it is there personal business and I don't let it shade my opinion of them. If I respect someone, I don't care what relgion they follow. Just as I am not interested in the religious views of those I don't respect. If the fundies on here think they are witnessing, they are sadly mistaken.

Agnostics, I have found, usually also tend to be the more intelligent, interesting, knowledgeable folks as well. In fact, I think most religious people that are not fundamentalists are decent people. There is something about strict adherence to a fundamentalist doctrine that seems to draw and hold a certain type of person.

Yeah, well except for all those millions of Christians who happen to also accept the Theory of Evolution. Which have been shown to you many, MANY times.

Hey, this 'what if' game is FUN! Got any more?

The Bible CAN BE a book that has some very good lessons contained within it (the afore mentioned "Golden Rule" among others being examples of such). It is not a science or history book, however.

We are not blaming God for bringing us a book of lies (the Bible, I assume you're referring to). MAN wrote this book, not God. Taken literally, it contains inaccuracies of both a scientific and historic nature.

No talking snakes, no Adam/Eve, no sun stopping in the sky for a full day, and so on.

The fact is science DID bring TVs, phones, PCs, etc.

I agree with you, and wish to add that fundamentalist ATHEISTS (like "Skeptic") are just as bad as fundamentalist THEISTS in their dogmatic convictions.
