Did you know that most Buddhist monks having achieved enlightenment, can enter into nirvana, but choose to stay in this world to help others find their way?

Read that somewhere.

Then how would you explain the reference to "... infinite intelligence"?
Perhaps Mr. Edison could, but I can't. Below is a few quotes I found from him.

My mind is incapable of conceiving such a thing as a soul. I may be in error, and man may have a soul; but I simply do not believe it. What a soul may be is beyond my understanding.

So far as the religion of the day is concerned, it is a damned fake ... Religion is all bunk.

I have never seen the slightest scientific proof of the religious ideas of heaven and hell, of future life for individuals, or of a personal God.

All Bibles are man-made”

“I do not believe that any type of religion should ever be introduced into the public schools of the United States”

All of the above from Thomas Alva Edison

Perhaps he was a deist.

Know what I think would be nice - that is if the true believers spoke only to those others with similiar beliefs and the nonbelievers discussed what it is they wish to discuss.
Since there is no real proof on either side of this matter, IMO. Faith is not proof and my opinions on evolution offers me no proof either.
I think the whole idea about these forums is to get the two together and let them debate...you don't know this??

It is a cold world and people turn to things like addictive substances and sexual sins to try and comfort themselves, the end is desperation and a worse state. Jesus can save anyone if they will repent.
Yeah, I'm an atheist and I've turned to Iced Tea and having Sex with my Wife. Do I need saving?

Word, you sound like you need to be saved. First off tea has caffeine and secondly, your own wife. Have you no shame?

Edison seems to have had his moment of grandstanding on the subject.
And Einstein.
And a bunch of other scientists who don't seem to think that the unknown can be left unknown in the sight of their brilliance!

I know, I know....I try S000ooo hard to live a good and sin free life, but the tea and sex calls me in such sonorous and lilting tones, I just can't resist.

Everyone has a set of ethics. Ethics are subjective, based on social pressures and genetic traits inherited, developed through natural selection. We lump them together and call them ethics.
"Everyone has a set of ethics."

That statement alone could spawn off an entirely new thread.

So, if you don't use the Bible as a source of ethics (and ignore it when convenient), where do you derive your ethics? You were born with them?

Where do people that adhere to religions different from Christianity derive their ethics? Are you saying that they don't have ethics?

Nope. They're heathens awaiting to hear the gospels. But perhaps I misunderstood evangelical preachers on TV.

Without the Bible threats of Hell, we'd all be murderers, thieves, adulterers, perjurers, and boiling young goats in their mother's milk.

The English who are from England brought the English language to the Americas( North America).
Wrong, that is a true story,(2 true stores actually). That you are too ignorant to realise that is your problem and you do seem to have several problems to contend with.

English was in the USA years before English settlers popularised it. Had it not been it is though doubtful those first settlers would have survived.
