For a sec I was like, writer believes in God? So does much of America so what's the big deal? Then we find out what they actually mean is that the writer is actually an anti-science creationist. In which case the mockery is well deserved.

In my personal opinion, believing in something that one has no proof of and which all evidence argues against(God), is itself worth mockery. I know that a lot of my fellow atheists see this as harsh, but there is no more evidence of a god, than there is for the tooth fairy or a spaghetti monster.

Teeth and spaghetti exist so there's at least some resemblance of existence there.
