Proverbs 1:5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain to wise counsels: 6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. 7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

More of a concern about sides is that you have not supported anything and seem to have no understanding of the areas under discussion.

And yes, you are a creationist. So am I. I just do not place restrictions on God as to how he must create.

This is where the Bible and science show 'some' of the same facts.

This is not true. The Bible says nothing about plate techtonics, the earth being billions of years old, the universe being older, humans being around (in some form) for millions of years. Those are the facts. Worse, the Bible (if taken literally, which is a huge theological mistake) suggests that the entire was once flooded (never happened) and that the universe is only about 6,000 years old.
imagine2011 wrote:

The Bible said none of the above scientific facts. This is called projection and rationalization.

<quoted text> Plus, the timing of the "enlightened" people that have only been around a few hundred years, are prophecied ALSO in the Bible.

This is just delusional nonsense. Look at the Jehovah's witnesses, for one particularly silly example: they can't even get the name of God right! How many predictions about the end of time have they made and how many times have they had to back away from it. Of course the JWs are just one of the worst case examples of delusional religious nonsense that is being spread around in difference to science, theology, Biblical scholarship and common sense.

Just God alone

You've missed the point ENTIRELY. If the Old Testament said this stuff 4000 years ago, then it we should not have had to wait for scientists to discover it.

You can't retroactively claim something is talked about in the Bible AFTER science discovers it. You need to come TO SCIENCE with the information from the Bible and demonstrate it.

Can you think of a SINGLE instance when that has happened?

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
Except that what you are calling the "springs" of the deep are the smoking vents that result from lava flow, not a source of water which is what the Bible claims.

And that's EXACTLY my point. You are _right now_ claiming that black smokers are "the springs of the deep".

What happens if tomorrow, some submarine finds a giant round hole at the bottom of the ocean out of which is flowing millions of gallons of fresh water? Would _THAT_ be the "springs of the deep"?

Irrational fear of an imaginary figure is not the beginning of knowledge. It's the end of knowledge.

ROMAN Catholic teachings are way different than Protestant...why do you think they separated in the first place?

Lets back up. When did I say they weren't different? Their Bibles are the same except for a few additional books (7) and the information was drawn from Catholic "originals.

In addition, the denominations of protestantism are more different from each other than they are from Catholicism.

Even more interesting is that the early church was even more differentiated (to be nice) than modern denominations. The council of Nicaea was the ultimate compromise bridging beliefs as divergent as the view of Jesus as completely God vs. Jesus as completely human to cite just one example. Their solution was, how do you say, "unique".
imagine2011 wrote:
<quoted text> The Catholics used to put people to death if they were caught reading the Holy Bible and they put it in Latin and CHANGED much of its writings and.....added books. Remember, the Romans were the power that put Jesus to death.

This is not true. The Bible was translated into Latin in the same way it was translated into English; so that people could read it. After all, that was the official language of the Roman Empire.

That said, people for the first 1500 years of Christianity did not view the Bible in the same way as we do today. The Protestant reformation needed to find a substitute for the authority of The Church. They elevated the Bible to be the center of authority to supplant that authority. If you ever study the history of Christianity this is an interesting period.

The 7 "extra" books were NOT ADDED by the Catholics! They were TAKEN AWAY by the Protestants. Again, Church history.

The official reason they were removed is that "Jesus never quoted them", but in fact there are other books that Jesus never quoted. The actual reason seems to be that they were removed is because they were felt to support the Catholic Church too much.

The Quran is written by a man (mohammed) who thought he was controlled by satan and he said that many times. If they were worshipping the same God as Jews and Christians, why would they call us infidels and want to kill us? Makes no sense.

And we Christians NEVER EVER said similar things about them... right?

From my research, the Catholics taught and backed Islam from the beginning.
Catholics are also the so called 'church' who killed MILLIONS of Protestants, trying to wipe out Christians...if that tells you anything.

Millions have been killed in wars between Protestants and Catholics, but that is no more the fault of the Catholics than the Protestants. It is true that the early Catholics persecuted other "denominations" which is ironic since they (Followers of Paul)were originally a minority view in the early Church. I agree that Islam does not make a lot of sense, but if you look at religion objectively then most of them do not make much sense.

No no. That is not correct. It shows that some of the books of the O.T. are the same as they were in the late 1st century a.d. This is hardly a huge surprise since they were codified well before then.
There are not surviving N.T. books with such a pedigree.
<quoted text>
?? The Catholic Bible is the same (except for a couple of OT books) as the Protestant Bible. In fact MOST translations of the NT are based on Catholic copies.
Second, why in the world would you expect 1st Century Jewish books to confirm the Quran (which was not written till hundreds of years later)? Stupid much?

Less than 1% of the Earths water is underground. The water coming out of thermal vents is subducted sea water.

4:95-96 Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of God with their goods and their persons. God hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath God promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward: Ranks specially bestowed by Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. For God is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
5:51 O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust.
5:72-73: They do blaspheme who say: "God is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with God,- God will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrongdoers be no one to help. They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

What was this rant about?

He did not just exhort them, they carried it out.

Our God is nastier than Allah. Do you really want to judge on that standard?

Okay, I got one: God was so powerful that he could create the universe in a few days but, when it came to saving his creatures from death (something he originally built in) the best idea he could come up with was to have his son get nailed to a tree.

I've always felt the Catholic church is evil. Over 1000 years ago they ordered the change of the sabbath day from saturday to sunday. It says in the Bible (not the catholic bible thats different than the Holy Bible and only read to you and not studied) that the beast will change the sabbath day of worship. Rome in Biblical days was evil and killed Christians, forced their own religion on the people. The vatican is in Rome now and does the exact same thing. The Holy Bible says that men of God should marry and not withold marriage or you will burn with passion (homos and child molesters) but the Catholics do that. The Bible says to confess your sins directly to Jesus and that the use of a mediator isn’t needed anymore because Jesus is the mediator, but Catholics still do that. Bible says no one human is God other than the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and no man is to EVER say that he is God, but the Catholics Popes say it while sitting in a temple THEY call temple of God (wrong again) temple of satan is more like it. No one can forgive sins but God and Jesus but the Popes say they can. God says to not worship any graven images but the Catholics do, saint this and saint that, holy mary(mary was only human and so were the saints) that’s called idol worship. God says don’t change the Sabbath and the Catholics did that too. I sure hope the Catholics blinded by satans demons finally wake up and leave the false teachings before its too late and their doomed to hell.
Ah! I see, now. Not only are you an ignorant creationist nut job, but you're a religious bigot to boot. Way to go sunshine.
