Mitch wrote: <quoted text> Even Darwin believed in a Devine creator at his death Wow, you've even screwed up the lie. First of all, no one is claiming that Darwin is an Atheist. Nor does anyone claim that Darwin didn't believe in a "Creator" who made the Universe. That, however, is NOT "Creationism". Second, you are TRYING to refer to a lie that was made up by Creationists who claim that Darwin's maid overheard Darwin recant on his death bed. Two BIG problems here: #1) Never actually happened. #2) Even if it did happen, it wouldn't MATTER. If I tell you that a BLT contains Bacon Lettuce and Tomato, then on my deathbed I recant that - does that mean that a BLT doesn't contain those things?

Mitch wrote: <quoted text> Watch the film expelled, every time a scientist makes a claim about there being a god, they are expelled from the scientific community. They also ask some of your ever loving scientists hard questions that they have silly, or no answere to Science is full of Theory's - not facts "Expelled" is a badly made propaganda film full of lies and misinformation. No evidence is presented in the film about any of the claims made. It is so badly made, and its efforts at lying are so apparent that only fools will think of that film as carrying any legitimacy. Your ignorance of science and scientists are also apparent in your reply. First of all, science has no position on the issue of God. Science is neutral with respect to God. Secondly, there are theists as well as atheists among scientists. Thirdly, what matters is whether the scientists are using the scientific method when doing science. Their personal opinions on God, religion, politics, etc. don't matter. Most importantly, theories are the ultimate in science. Theories make sense of the facts. Theories are supported by facts. Read upon what a scientific theory is before you make foolish statements. I asked a question - give me evidence of anyone who was a scientist and believed in evolution, and later on started believing in creationism.

How does this have any bearing on the scientific validity of either evolution or creationism? We can demonstrate the theory of evolution works. What's the "scientific theory" of creationism? Also why have you not addressed a single one of your mistakes? Why is it ALWAYS creationists who are dishonest when they debate us? Don't you believe in the 9th Commandment?

Bluenose wrote: <quoted text> Nice post little grasshopper. As you no doubt realise, there are two kinds of ignorance. The first is simply he lack of knowledge and is the kind to be encouraged because it is by recognising our ignorance of a subject we can become informed, or even discover new things. This is the sort that scientists use all the time and through their efforts we can become less ignorant. Then there is the second kind of ignorance and that is the kind that refuses to look at anything that is not in acordance with what the person already holds to be the case. This is the sort of ignorance that is not amenable to new knowledge or of being convinced of anything not already accepted. It is anathema to reasoned debate as our fundy friends so eloquently demonstrate on this forum. I am quite happy to admit to the first form of ignorance on many subjects. It is how I learn new things, something I enjoy enormously. I wonder which category our friend Mitch falls into? Thanks Awesome Aussie, you always make me feel just a wee bit more chipper. I hope I always suffer from the first type of ignorance, for I never want to stop learning.

"Vile" &/or "Nasty"?!? Moi?!? I was raised Presbyterian, and for the first 18 years of my life, I did church, Sunday School, sang in the choir(s), vacation bible school, youth group, yadda, yadda, yadda. The more I read from and learned about the Bible, the more I arrived at the conclusion that it is anything BUT an inerrant book 'devinely inspired by God'. Christianity, the Bible and all CAN BE fine tools for teaching life lessons, but it is NOT a science, or history book. And if there IS a 'Supreme Deity' out there, it is most CERTAINLY not the cartoon version as depicted in the Bible.
