That is rather dubious.

Alien life very well could be real. It is almost a certainty. Alien intelligence may be questionable. It took 4.5 Ga years for it to appear on Earth.

It is alien visitors that are not real.

Sub Z believes in alien life for the same reason religious people believe in God; faith. There is no scientific evidence of alien life.

Talk about dubious, the possibility of alien life is real, just as there is a possibility that dragons, elves or God exists.

Can any statement be more dubious than 'almost certain'?

The belief in the certainty of alien life is based on faith, not science. There is no evidence of extraterrestrial life.

From what I've read here about people believing in alien life without admitting that belief is faith based; intelligent life on Topix is questionable too.

See that would be nice if it were "their choice" but Uhhhh no... The majority of "believers" are force fed religion... Santa, easter bunny, tooth fairy... Their parents just neglect to tell them about God not being real like the others... As a matter of fact... Logically the tooth fairy, and Santa, would be easier to prove the existence of, since there is ACTUALLY EVIDENCE of them showing up... Lololol

The difference being, we have a probability sample. That's the point you misunderstood in Nuggin's posts on the other thread about them bugs in the Amazon. So while technically speaking you are correct in that there is no *current* evidence of extra-terrestrial life, based on what we know so far it is more likely that there is, rather than the likelihood of us being the only life in the entire universe.

Actually so far all the evidence points to us being terrestrial life.

One single case is not a probability sample.

There are many cases of bug discoveries in the Amazon, enough to constitute a probability sample. When you have more than one case, you can begin to calculate probabilities; the more samples, the more accurate the calculation.

There's no way to calculate the accuracy of the statement above. It's not based on evidence, science or math. Belief in extraterrestrial life is based on faith; not science.

Funny. Since that's not quite the argument you used on the other thread, as you disputed that multiple cases were not adequate either.

However basing something on probabilities is not faith. And accepting the possibility of either outcome (life/no life) is not faith either. But the fact remains that one of these concepts is scientific and one isn't. Care to take a guess which one it is?

I said that people can get larger brains if they are born and raised on a different planet for a certain amount of years.. because there is less gravity holding it down..
