Hard to believe that one of them is Kansas after the State BOA actions of the past.

Well, the article also shows that they are trying to get religious taught in schools too. I.e Creationism, AGW skeptics, etc.

Only real science should be taught in school. Let them get on the religious ideology after they get a real grounding in the facts.

I meant BOE, Board of Education. It is particularly poignant to me that Kansas has done a complete reversal on the teaching of Creationism in science classes.

Eliminating Evolution in the Science Curriculum

Back in August of 1999, the Kansas State Board of Education made national and international headlines by rejecting evolution and the Big Bang theory as real science. The 10-member board voted 6-4 to eliminate these topics from the science curriculum. Contrary to some reports, the board did not ban teaching those subjects, but what they did was nearly the same. By eliminating any mention of them from the required science curriculum and from tests for graduating students, they also eliminated any need to study them. Teachers would need to focus on those topics which were tested for graduation, sacrificing evolution and the Big Bang out of necessity.

Then On November 8, 2005 the Kansas Board of Education approved the following changes to its science standards:

Add to the mission statement a goal that science education should seek to help students make "informed" decisions.
Provide a definition of science that is not strictly limited to natural explanations.
Allow intelligent design to be presented as an alternative explanation to evolution as presented in mainstream biology textbooks, without endorsing it.
State that evolution is a theory and not a fact.
Require informing students of purported scientific controversies regarding evolution.

I suppose national ridicule may have played a part here....

Occams Razor: a scientific and philosophic rule that entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily which is interpreted as requiring that the simplest of competing theories be preferred to the more complex or that explanations of unknown phenomena be sought first in terms of known quantities

If you are religious and believe in an all powerful GOD running the show, the ultimate selection for Occams Razor is 'GOD did it'. All else becomes meaningless and we are but puppets dancing to the whims of unseen entities.

Why bother to teach if that is the answer?? Just tell them to pray and donate the offerings on time.
