Historic Preservation is a "Joke" in Belton TX. What the mayor and city council have done to assist their cronies University of Mary Hardin Baylor, is a terrible thing. They dismantled preservation guidelines and board to allow UMHB to bypass the rules, destroy historical homes and transform into parking lots, had groundbreaking for UMHB football stadium before zoning was approved, and ignored the voice of the majority in the community. They are in the same church, city attorney is a UMHB Board Trustee and they are all in bed together. This is by far the most crooked scheme to take place and justified because they allege students generate revenue, when in fact The $130 million of property is non-taxable - exempt. And now the cronies are building a bridge to no where for UMHB football stadium against the majority who will be directly impacted with the noise, trash, traffic - all for the love of money - a root of all evil that these religious people pursue that primarily serves their own - not the community as a whole.
