The elder one had plenty to say at the council meeting last night, but good taste keeps me from repeating any of it.Do u kno he was arrested away from his home, and that LA county sherrifs took him back to his home
Big so what- they wanted to search the home
after a month someone talked
News would have done the same thing election or no election
Doesn't take a conspiracy
If Cook-Hill thought trying to discredit Christina would help them and discredit Bill, Art, etc.
What does Montebello Forward have to say?
MONTEBELLO >> Ruben Guerrero, the husband of Montebello Mayor Christina Cortez, was arrested Thursday morning at their home on two drug-related charges.
Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, said (Mayor Christina) Cortez wasnt involved.

not nonsense in todays age of surveillance, cell phone tracking, e-mail taps
or just surveillance and see who comes and who goes
You think he's going to tell them anything?
maybe they have to go for a plea bargain to get info

This is a Misdemeanor from the year 1991.
Not worth the time to look it up.

Are you suggesting that the NSA was working on this case? Low-level dealers, nowadays, are the subject of wiretaps? If everything can be solved electronically, why did they feel they needed 40 deputies for searches of residences?
If suspects don't ever talk to investigators, then why do they read them their rights and interview them? Maybe you should stop reading so much science fiction.
Brave New World?

Perhaps SGPD could enlighten us?

I'm sorry, but I can't stay quiet after reading your comment.
I agree, if someone chooses to support their spouses drug habit, it's between them, not outside the family. However, she is an elected official and an official for the city I live in and I expect more from my representatives. Therefore, if she wants to support his habit, more power to her, just don't expect to also represent this city. As for all this is doing is giving more support, come on, you gotta be kidding.

Sorry, it's better if I just read the threads. It's obvious that people have blinders. You honestly agree with the folks that say she is innocent, no wrong doing on her part. Maybe it's the same folks who covered up JFK's murder? I'm sure she is a nice lady, mother, daughter, etc. but we deserve better.

Everybody, go to You tube and search Jay Leno montebello. It's hilarious, even Leno agrees Cortez is a whacko

This reminds me of my time as a freelance Soviet analyst in the 1970s and 80s. We had our deadly enemies who were irredeemable and evil to the core. Then Kristallnacht, 1989 came along and suddenly the Soviet Union is now the Russian Federation, our nominal allies and friends! To our surprise, the other side had felt the same way about us as we felt about them! I was also finished with that career, but that's for another thread.
Anyway, it just goes to show that nothing lasts forever, especially our preconceived notions, and no one is an enemy for life.
People love to hear about real-life experiences (witness the rise of 'reality' shows), and as a new senior citizen, it is clear that young people expect us to tell them entertaining stories, and nothing is better than a real cops and robbers story.

Someone else has already been there, done that.

I have been "caught" doing positive in the community as well. Sure enough it is followed by retaliation. They tried to get my hubby a couple times as well. One detail was omitted. He died years before the date of the the crimes he supposedly committed. Now that is a waste of resources and for the record the police were not happy.

World traveler must know that it does not take the NSA or NKVD to get info.
Any e-mail service will BCC e-mails and any phone provider will provide numbers in and out- no big deal to them- just flip a switch or hit a button
Think they did not check his cell phone? think again

So quick to judge.. I forgot we all lived in a glass house.

I specifically asked about 'wiretaps'
I am not from the Wizard of Oz, so, please no more straw man arguments.
#138 Oct 25, 2013
Thank you, World Traveller, for noticing.
Here is my previous response to this:
Yes, I see. He (Leno) said that the Mayor denied knowing that her husband was running a 'Meth Lab'.
Funny, but not accurate. I'm surprised at him (Leno), because he knows that it is much funnier to lampoon true stories than to make up something.
In this case, the joke's on Jay.
******* And, to continue being accurate, Jay did NOT make any comment about the Mayor being a 'whacko'.

By your logic driving under the influence is no big deal. To me it goes to the character of the person. Doing something like this is selfish and irresponsible. Many people die as a result of drunk driving.
#140 Oct 26, 2013
There is no indication what this 22+year old misdemeanor is.
If someone was 'selfish and irresponsible' 22+ years ago, what does that tell you about them NOW?
Old, moldy, news. Smells like dirty tricks.

After scandals, aggressive police union law firm to dissolve
Police Unions Cross Line While Bullying Public Officials
The Cop Playbook. Public Safety Has Nothing To Do With It.
#142 Oct 26, 2013
The Police Union Playbook has been referenced before.
Look at MPD cop lawsuits against the City.
Directly out of the playbook.
Who is this corrupt, selfish Union backing for City Council?
Christina broke ranks- the do not like that.
What does the playbook say to do?
