"East side Santa Cruz" sounds more like a part of town than a gang.

So a bunch of thugs have claimed the name "East Side Santa Cruz" for their criminal gang? Doe this mean the rest of the town has to stop using this designation? Is that why people are getting shot and stabbed all the time, due to misunderstandings over that? It has certainly happened over West Side Santa Cruz. How ridiculous is all this? It's a small town. I hope the gang task force finds them all and puts an end to it for good..

But coincidentally, for the record, they're mexicans (Oops, excuse me! The politically misleading I mean correct term is "Latino mexicans").
Congratulations

Yup. The mexicans want absolutely everything that we have. Right down to the designations for our particular locale.

All of these young men received subsidized child care, free school lunches and medical care, and bilingual classes while their classmates learned sensitivity training.

Where did we go wrong?

Golly gosh, Big Fella! Are you REALLY a gang expert? Or are you that middle-aged guy who drives around in the wanna-be cop car (you know, the white ex-cop car bristling with antennae and notepad on the dash)?!
As for me, I'm in my fifties and have been surfing both the West and East sides for nearly all of those years. There's always been a lot of local pride amongst the very territorial surfers, and no shortage of fist-fights over the years because of it. But don't confuse it with a bunch of mexican gang-bangers. "That dog won't hunt".

Huh? How are they Santa Cruz men if they live in Live Oak? Are they Santa Cruz men or Live Oak men? And
The slide of the semi-automatic hand gun was modified and painted blue and the bullets were painted red - gang colors, police said.
Are they Surenos or Nortenos? Blue barrel, red bullets. Make up your mind.

Live Oak is part of Santa Cruz County - anywhere in SC County is "Santa Cruz."
Hmmm, the gun belongs to the gang doing the shooting, and the bullets are intended for the rival gang getting shot.
Makes sense now, doesn't it?
Thanks to the Police Dept. for the good work, now please lock them up for good.

No, doesn't make sense,'cause when someone in Watsonville commits a crime, they are referred to by the Sentinel as "Watsonville men"; when someone in Scotts Valley commits a crime, they are referred to by the Sentinel as "Scotts Vals"; and typically when someone in Live Oak shoots someone, they are referred to by the Sentinel as "Live Oak resident".
