Keep up the good work, guys!
If taking that made a hit on the supply, then prices just went up. If prices went up, that's more incentive for someone to replace them. There is no end to this, no end.

Find some hard drug dealers to bust, guys.

American taxpayers spend at least $7.5 billion each year enforcing marijuana prohibition through criminal punishment. One out of eight drug offenders in our states' prisons have been locked up for a marijuana offense.

What kind of return are we getting on our investment?

The use of our public safety resources to enforce marijuana prohibition has diminished neither the supply of, nor the demand for, marijuana in the United States. Rising marijuana arrest rates have not led to falling marijuana use rates.

Marijuana is more available than ever on the black market, making millionaires out of the criminals who control it. Today, the domestic marijuana market alone generates $35.8 billion per year, making marijuana our country's #1 cash crop - unregulated & untaxed.

More than half of the violent crimes committed each year go unsolved while we spend billions of tax dollars enforcing marijuana laws that have no effect on usage. Could our public safety resources be put to better use?

A system of regulation & control is far more ethical & effective than one of prohibition.

I always amazes me to see how people leap to conclusions. I don't know both of the people who were arrested, but I do know Brett Packer. Don't know how long he has had the grow going, but I do know he is also local contractor who builds the most beautiful homes - a real artist and a really nice guy. He is also a family man with small children. He buys homes and properties to remodel and build, and is very hard working (and a taxpayer). We all know what has happened to the real estate and construction industries. Don't know for sure that is why he did this, but I certainly won't judge him.

You have got to be kidding. This man had all the legitimate paperwork for being a completely legal Medical Marijuana Primary Care Giver. SCCNET SGT. Steve Carney has raided several perfectly legitimate Medical Marijuana grow locations, Somebody should be policing the police. These officers think they are above the law. It is a crime to enter someones property without a warrant which is what these same officers do day after day. The community should raise up in outrage to this obvious violation of constitutional rights. Besides that, Santa Cruz city council has legalized medical marijuana years ago. This is a federal issue and not something for local Sheriff Deputies to interfere with. It is entirely out of their jurisdiction.

Marijuana prohibition affects us all. Our public safety resources have been taken away from violent crimes & property crimes. An increasing number of otherwise law-abiding citizens have been turned into "criminals", resulting in a multitude of lost rights & opportunities, not only for them but for their families.

Marijuana prohibition has created an enormously profitable black market that enriches criminal enterprises & deprives us of billions of dollars in potential tax revenues from the nation's leading cash crop. And for the millions of people who use the plant every year, there is no regulation to ensure it is free of contaminants.

Prohibition failed us once...now it is failing us again.

In the same amount of time it took Steve Carney and his boys to bust someone for growing pot on their own property, I bet 5 pounds of meth was sold on our public streets... Way to go Steve..For every one pot plant you pull there our 100 planted. way it was, way it is , the way it will be. Give up on the pot Steve, with all the meth taking down this town I would think you have bigger fish to fry.
You are sooooo right. Steve Carney is an egotistical retard that feels he's above the law. Some one needs to petition to get this guy off the force. I have some friends who are Sheriff Deputies that tell me he's always entering into peoples homes illegally and without warrants. Why doesn't his supervisor do something about it! wait I know why, because it's 5 deputies word against the Medical Marijuana Primary Care givers word. Let's see, who's word is the D.A. gonna believe?

I have had my dealings with these thugs (Sgt. Carney, Officer. Ramirez, & Officer.Kerr) They broke the hinges off my door went I wasn't even home, destroyed my house and left me a card. I came home from work and I thought my house had been robbed, I called the Sheriff Dept. to speak with Sgt. Carney and he was unavailable, The officer I spoke to said they had "good reason to believe there were narcotics being sold from my home". I have never used drugs in my entire life. Apparently, some "informant" randomly gave my address as a drug house to try to get out of being arrested. That was all it took for Sgt. Carney and his gang of thugs to destroy my home (no warrant). I asked to speak to his supervisor(Officer Campos) and he told me there was no record of any visit to my address. I guess "Sc-Local" is right, it is my word against theres and my words have fallen on deaf ears.

Alarming. Will anything come of it? I know of one raid where no warrant could be issued, so they just raided the place and left a note "we were here, took your stuff, what are you going to do about it? too bad". As I've said before, CAMP and CNET are vigilantes with (stinking) badges.

The same goes for a pothead who spends his SSDI check on FREE bee weed and cancer sticks. I'm gonna flag all of his unpaid political advertisements.

I can just see him now, going off on the citizens at a city council meeting with his "GO TO HELL" insults. You can read it now on those SENTINEL forums. Even worse his pusher chick (who deals dope) near COSTCO is in the race too.

If Becky Johnson is his campaign manager, then we might conclude that Craig Canada is also the Robert Norse Kahn stealth candidate. "We don't get fooled again".

Illegal marijuana trade is more than drugs. It's theft from society. Taxes are not paid. You dope brained pot smoking hippies are stoned. I think i have read articles that this same Canrey guy does deal with things beside the hippie crack.
Eff Yoo potheaded tax thieves. I hope you get raided too and all your things taken from you. And, if you have families and children that they take your kids and charge you with child endangerment or neglect.
I'm watching for signs of marijuana trafficking, and i'm sending a letter with photographs to Carney if I get the chance.
I do the samee thing about illegal aliens and the people that employ them, sending media files to ICE.
And now I also do the UCSC terrorists.

Sgt. Carney and his team are dedicated professionals.

I was part of the team many years ago and know that the Sheriff and deputies follow the law and department policy always.

Respect is always shown to suspects in such cases and the department follows the state guidelines for medicinal use by individuals with valid, medically verified reasons.

Well, another criminal sympathizer! Maybe you're a tax evading dopehead stoner too? I declare all of my income. I'm a target of Obama and the liberals (who want to raise my taxes). I pay a healthy property tax, and very high yearly vehicle licensing tax. It irks me that these criminals exist, and because of the many anarchistic law breakers and sympathizers I lend a hand to the cops. So what. If the book says you can go to prison for it, I'll turn you in. I'll photograph you, your car, your license plate. and turn them in.

I have no physical problems whatsoever at the end of the day. But for criminal scum and their scumloving friends...I have no love at all. A few minutes of my time are what I owe law abiding society.

Steve,

You were a pretty cool cop, your old pal Gary was a hot head at times, but we all know there were some bad apples at both the PD and the SO. Everyone knows that some cops create PC to search and arrest. Everyone knows that cops are in cliques and don't always trust each other, you were a straight honest cop, cops that played outside the rule book didn't do it in front of you. You remember the entire CODE BLUE fiasco when you were a newer officer. Nicky was a good guy who got caught up in that. You know who I am talking about.
