Once again, no-buddy does anythin' for the law-abidin' tax-payin' property owner.

It would have been nice iff'n places like Stow, would invest the drug money that they confiscate, into helpin' the property owner clean up the property for resale.

Law abiding, tax paying property owners don't rent to meth labs. They actually DO background checks on their tenants.

Well, they do the background checks on the renters, but not neccesarily on their freinds, or lovers....

Not surprising........

To all above, Did you get a full copy of the legislation passed? It makes it totaly imposible for clean up. Summit County Health Dept. will not give any way to clean it up and will not go along with the ODH (ohio dept. health) rule, to take the property off of possible contamintion list.
All of the city's that passed this legislation have no way of proper clean-up. This legislation is not giving us any clean-up work. also as stated the property owner MUST have desclosure to all RENTERS ie example 2-4-12 plex all 12 people must be notifyed, how can you get any to rent???
WE NEED LEGISLATION for clean up NOT THIS TYPE
Our thanks, to Akron law dept.(their hand our tied) We have cleaned meth labs 5 yrs. using ODH
rules. For more information Contact us LMCOMPANIES@AOL.COM

To continue the thread, this is an educational issue. The media has "advertised" the hazards and contamination/busts of labs in epidemic proportions, but have not provided the means to remove the contamination so the homes can be re-inhabited. Unfortunately there is a lot of incorrect information lingering on the internet regarding means to decontaminate the dwellings after the "bad guys" have left their mark. Would I live in a meth house after decontamination, SURE as long as the company doing the decontamination is reputable and has a third party doing the testing and collecting the samples. Remember, if you decontamination company does the post testing of the house they just cleaned, did they thoroughly test the house or just the areas they know are clean? Always hire a third party to test so you don't have any problems in the future!!!

Property Owners: If your property becomes contaminated with methamphetamine, there are steps you can take to assure your property gets the proper attention it needs so that you can avoid possible liability issues down the road.
1. Have your property tested by an independent testing firm.(cuyahoga falls can supply you with a list of professional testing and cleaning companies. Do not use cleaning companies that also do testing. That is not only a conflict of interest, but it shows that the cleaning company is not confident of their own work.
2. Once your property is tested, and possibly is contaminated, then obtain 2-3 cleanup estimates.
3. after the property is decontaminated, then the third party testing firm will conduct a post test to determine all contaminates have been successfully removed from the structure as well as the ductwork and furnace.
4. If the property is still contaminated, a good cleanup firm will warrenty their work and repeat the cleanup and pay for the next test.
5. Once the property has passed testing and is encapsulated, the testing firm and cleanup company will provide you with reports for your records. You then can move on to getting the property back to a rentable state.

Are you serious? Clean up work? This isnt about you making money. You should be ashamed to post something like this.

This is your responsibility if you decide to rent the property. We aren't going to bailout landlords sorry. We pay taxes too.

this is america so they can't do that. If you don't like this as a landlord, sell it and buy another either outside of stow, or that wasn't a meth lab.
