Well fortunately what you wish has no bearing on me. I guess a meth heads worst fear is going to jail and having to quit meth. Sorry but I have no sympathy for drug traffickers. I know the damage their hunger for money and drugs bring onto society. If they did as they are accused they deserve jail time and a huge fine. As you say, everybody makes mistakes. But criminals have to pay the price. I think drug trafficking and manufacture is less a mistake than it is a willing choice driven by lust for money and disregard for the damage done. No sympathy - none at all if they are guilty.

If someone continues to offend I understand but my point is sometimes people make mistakes and if it's the first time I say give them a chance to make things right. We don't know the situations as to y things were done and to say it was for money isn't a fair statement. Maybe it was to cover a deeper emotional bearing that no one knows about. Sometimes things aren't always what they appear to be.

I agree. I know for a fact that someone people do drugs or drink alcohol because they want to be "numb". They don't want to have to think about the terrible abuse that other sorry SOBs have done to them.
Until a person has dealt with the abuse that some people went through as a child they don't understand. Some people have been abused so horribly that it's to much to deal with. That is why I defend people that are messed up on drugs. There is a reason why they are on drugs. I don't think that people that are "in their right mind" turn to drugs. There is an emotional problem that they are trying to "escape" from that causes them to turn to drugs to help them forget the thoughts that are tormenting them.
This is why "true" Christians want to help people that are addicted to drugs.
They know that there is an underlying problem that the drug addict needs to deal with.

I want to add this in my comment.
People that ARE NOT addicted to drug but they sell drugs to the addicted to make money are the ones that should be locked away for life.
They are the lowest of the low. Making money off of others people's pain.
That low. They have no compassion. They don't care. They are only interested in making money. Those are the ones that should go to prison. The addict needs help.

And some do it because it feels good and they can make a quick buck.
They know that there is an underlying problem that the drug addict needs to deal with.
Question is does that kind of "help" make it better? It may often just facilitate.

What about family who give money to buy drugs or support them so they can use the money they earn for drugs? And don't many make their own around here?

can whine and be a victim or be strong and overcome adversity. Problem is everyone wants to be a victim. Playing victim gets more sympathy and benefits.

The only thing this forum is good for is people running off at the mouth. I'm guessing no one who has posted on this thread even knows any of the people who were affected by this. Find a hobby people rather than trying to pull everyone down.
You said that right. People do t even have any idea who or what they are talking about.

There is a difference in "poor pitiful me" and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

PTSD is real but very much over diagnosed. Everybody wants it because it pays financially. My father had it from being a POW in world war II. PTSD unfortunately has turned into a scam. And its so broadly defined that almost anyone can make case for it. Veterans who were in combat maybe yeah. However as a combat Vet I can tell you that most are strong enough to deal with it and go on to successful lives. Some seek to profit from it. As for people with traumatic childhoods I agree that situation can be harder than for a war vet in some cases. Still, do you wallow in sympathy or move ahead? You should encourage and reward strength, not weakness.

I agree with you mostly except here it is being used as an excuse for addiction and the manufacture and selling of drugs.
