Hmmm...I think it's about time the police learn to not use "excessive" force!

It's ironic that WoodTV mentions the drug related youtube videos he has made, seemingly to add credence to their earlier reporting, then go on to mention that he majors in fiction film making.

The dad is the cop that shot him? Wouldn't a spanking have been adequate?

For sure, why not report on the officer who fired on this non violent kid? His identity and charactor are not being questioned or even mentioned!

It sounds like this kid was a pot head. He's majoring in film production and makes videos. He doesn't sound like a big threat to me. I hope that they do a deep investigation. It sounds like the cop was a little trigger happy.

I used to smoke weed and and drop acid and do all that stupid stuff in college. I repeat, STUPID stuff. I'm not ready to crucify the cop for shooting this kid, even if it was a bad call. We as a society need to recognize that breaking the law (no matter how trivial) will eventually result in problems. I hate big government but that's all the stupid voters faults. I'm geussing this idiot kid voted for Obama and is Liberal cronies just like most of the other idiot kids and adult mental midgets out there. Bottom line, if your gonna play, be prepared to pay, sometimes with your life. However, we can't just fire every copt that makes a mistake. (If this is something he's done before, then maybe it's time he goes, but if he's been a good cop for 12 years, then I say he gets a pass on this one) WAKE UP AMERICA. Cops have a tough job and dealing with the idiots of our society everyday, you'd want to shoot someone too.

WOW!!!! You have set your standards pretty low. When shooting an un armed kid without altercation deserves a 'pass' in this country I think it's time we re-evaluate our standards.

He's a lib so he deserved to be shot? In his own home? And its you right winged @-holes who go around complaining about big government--- UnEffinBelieveable. How much BIGGER can government get if they are allowed to barge into your home and SHOOT you!!??

Thank you for showing your hypocritical side. You represent your side well.

No one -NO ONE!!- has the right to judge until they have seen the event through the eys of the officer!!
Don't insist on what you as the public would like to hear from the officer(s)...how about first understanding that if this "upstanding young man" wasn't playing with drugs the officers would not have had any reason to be there!

Problem is 'we' don't know what happened, to speculate who was in the wrong, whether it was the cop or Coop, is wrong too!
Anyway you look at it illegal drugs aren't worth it!

Are you kidding me? Why are you worried about what he does online?

COPS CANT SHOOT UNARMED PEOPLE FOR NO REASON!!!!!

Why is the media taking OCPD side of this?

GVSU should riot, this is insane.

The cops came through a sliding door, most people enter through the main door, I am sure the kid was spooked by someone coming in through his slider and could have possibly moved in a way that the officer felt threatened, however WEMET usually does there homework, only 5 officers 9pm raid, they knew the odds of weapons in the house would be low, hence the lack of backup officers.
WEMET needs to be stopped this kind of excesive force should be reserved for Meth labs that way when they fire a shot into the propane tank or other explosive chemicals involved w/ cooking meth, blows up the entire house and ends the exsitance of this KGB like task force fighting a no win war on drugs.

Note to the public~
If you smoke weed you run the risk of getting shot by officers. Make sure you tape your medical marijuana note on your sliding glass door...if you have one!

OK, this is really what you want? This the use of our police and your taxes that you REALLY want? Being sent to rouse a harmless college student?

I think the STATE needs a better reason to show up at a citizen's door with guns than the fact that someone was getting high.

If they were selling drugs and that was a nuisance... there are ZONING laws for that.

GVSU student is awake
sorta like
SUV drives of 4th floor parking ramp

Oh...I get it. Now I need to figure out A or B
A. Dad shot GVSU student awake. Kid sleeps pretty good if that what it takes to wake up!
B. Dad shot GVSU student awake. Dad shot him when he was not sleeping?
