The way the local police like to pop a cap in people for little or no reason, I would have took off at the first sight of a gun too. I don't blame her for panicking.
What if she had a conceal permit and out-drew the cop?
BOOm! One dead undercover cop over a 6 pack of mineral water.
Or a dead student. Or both. This is really sad.

I probably would have flipped it someone approached me at night, in the dark, in a parking lot waiving something they claimed to be badges but could have been anything. That is one of the situations that women unfortunately must be alert about and act on instinct. What about a uniformed officer? What about having the person near the door inside of HT where there are people around?

I'm guessing you have never been a woman approached by strange people yelling stuff at you in a parking lot at night. They did not have uniforms. A small badge could be anything. You have to be well within harms distance to inspect that. Plain-clothed officers should not be approaching people in a parking lot. It is what we are taught (by police officers) to be wary of and how to respond in the situation.

Consider the facts:
1. She was dressed and looked like the sort of person who would buy beer.
2. She was in the company of people who are often associated with drinking beer (college students).
3. She was in an area where beer drinkers are known to purchase beer.
4. The police used every nonviolent means available to them to apprehend the suspect and question her.
5. The suspect refused to cooperate, using some excuse that she was not certain that they were police.
6. A magistrate, an unbiased arbiter, heard all of the facts and made an independent determination that a crime had been committed.
Now people complain about how outrageous this situation is?
I think this case is a perfect example of what happens when citizens are profiled by law enforcement. I wonder if the citizens of Garrett Square would find this behavior by the police to be so far out of the ordinary.

This tactic is total harrassment and totally unnecessary. Especially in light of all of the assaults on females at night in cville. What is going on in this town!?!

True but only when the police state supports the welfare state that elected him.

If they were black, they would have been shot and the shooting justified. Overzealous cops should be fired.

If the cops had thought she was under 21 buying beer why are they not in the store busting the store manager who let this happen? Fake ID? Store should recognize that. Should have been store manager at the end of the barrel.

All I can say is WOW.

I am happy the girls didn't get shot.

If the idiots with badges still have jobs...

wont surprise me , its C-ville where the police state is embraced.

Kudos to the young lady! She was smart, had it been someone dangerous she did just the right thing. They tell you that if you aren't sure about a "police officer" to call 911. What a level headed young lady. Too bad the police acted like morons.

Why didn't the ABC officers confront these girls in front of the store where they were in public view and would have felt safer? After hearing about numerous abductions of women taking place in parking lots at malls and stores, I most likely would have reacted in a similar manner if frightened. Getting in the car and locking the doors would have been my first instinct. In this world we live in right now, if a stranger pounds on your window and pulls a gun out, you don't wait around to see what will happen next. This was very poor strategy by the ABC officers and they should accept full responsibility for creating this unfortunate situation.

We have local Police to do this type of work. We must limit the Nazi like tactics of IRS, FDA and now ABC thugs. Guns against innocent girls?? Jumping on the car? What if she panicked and ran over one of these clows? It has to stop, they (government) are out of control. These girls were innocent and agents should act accordingly.

How come we don't know the names of the agents? Be nice to know so we can write letters to ATF management or our elected representatives.
C'mon NBC29 get the whole story. We are not a nation of sheep, are we?

If this person had been a male instead of a female, he'd be dead. They would have shot his ass up. Next time, this sort of story won't be so neat and tidy.

NBC29, PLEASE don't let this drop. gun should NEVER have been drawn and i would have been freaked too. ever if they had a CART of beer. these officers need to be let go or at very LEAST major training. this should NOT happen.
