Nice, Virginia hires ABC agents who can't tell the difference between sparkling water and beer. They should be fired.

No kidding, how do you get "reasonable suspicion" to stop somebody based on the shape of your grocery bag? What overkill. Great agency, you are going to shoot someone for buying some beer...oh wait, she didn't.

This is pathetic. I normally am very pro police, but this is so wrong on so many levels.

Ms. Daly needs to go back to remedial writing class--or go to work for NBC 29.

This woman will never get back any of the $ she has had to spend defending herself from these ridiculous charges. The law enforcement system and legal system in our country are so very very broken!

This whole unfortunate incident could have been avoided had the agents worked with local UNIFORMED police officers. Agents in street clothes approaching young women in a parking lot at 10 p.m. are just asking for exactly this type of response.

What the hell were ABC agents approaching these ladies for anyway? Beer is a legal substance and they had NO probable cause for them to think anything illegal was going on.

No kidding, they could divine that she was under twenty one and divine that it was beer and not....soda, or water, or whatever in the bag? Again, too pathetic.

These "agents" deserve to be fired. At the very least, the ABC owes these young women an apology and a reimbursement for their expenses. Our government is out of control.

ridiculous; ABC Agents don't know the difference between a case of beer and a case of LaCroix water?
I'm afraid I would have done the same as these young women if the agent(s) jumped on my car and pulled a gun?!

I talked to the girl's attorney and the whole story was outrageous. Yea, I only got one side, but the charges were dropped, so...
SOME of these 'plainclothes' ABC officers look and dress like thugs. I can see why some young girls would be afraid when suddenly confronted IF it was one of them that rushed up on them in a group. Just thank God that they didn't force this girl to go to trial on 3 felony charges just to protect the officer from being sued. Thanks to Dave Chapman and thanks to the good city/county/UVA police officers that do the right thing.

Really? Pulling a gun over a suspected underage alcohol purchase? Really?

The officer who drew should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Only then will justice be served in this case. If it was a twenty-one year old carrying a legal firearm, she could have been justified in shooting the agent.

Our government is out of control using these tactics. Why not stop her when she walked out of the store, in a better lit area, and ask for her ID? Why these stongarm tactics? Why rush in after she entered her vehicle? Completely uneccessary and dangerous for everyone involved. Disgusting

we now live in a police state......steps need to be taken to never ever let an incident like this happen again......I hope the young ladies hire an attorney and sue the pants off the department of ABC and demand that all abc agents involved in this incident be fired immediately.....and police wonder why they are not liked or respected...

The way the local police like to pop a cap in people for little or no reason, I would have took off at the first sight of a gun too. I don't blame her for panicking.

Consider the facts:

1. She was dressed and looked like the sort of person who would buy beer.
2. She was in the company of people who are often associated with drinking beer (college students).
3. She was in an area where beer drinkers are known to purchase beer.
4. The police used every nonviolent means available to them to apprehend the suspect and question her.
5. The suspect refused to cooperate, using some excuse that she was not certain that they were police.
6. A magistrate, an unbiased arbiter, heard all of the facts and made an independent determination that a crime had been committed.

Now people complain about how outrageous this situation is?

I think this case is a perfect example of what happens when citizens are profiled by law enforcement. I wonder if the citizens of Garrett Square would find this behavior by the police to be so far out of the ordinary.
