The Paris News really did a number on this article.
Do you know that the plants were actually male plants, and only a few inches tall? They were less than 8 weeks old, and the Task force was not even able to get a positive on the chemical tester.
They don't mention that part of it... Or how about the fact that they have no evidence to convict.
They siezed all of her life savings and accused that it was drug money, when there is no evidence of distribution. They also took her cell phone and set up someone to come to this persons house so they could bust her as well, this was the second person involved.
They text every person in her phone asking if they needed drugs, or that she needed drugs.. Even her preacher, youth minister, etc.
I know for a fact that this person has many medical issues, cancer being one of those. These plants were for personal / medical use, and she truthfully didn't even know what she was doing.
This is an outrage and they are trying to make up and convince this person to admit to something that is not true.. Keep an eye out, because you will see that no conviction comes of this.. but I gurantee you she will never see her life savings again.
They are just trying to throw out a headline to make it seem like there is really something going on.

It doesn't matter in Texas what she was using it for -- it's ILLEGAL. And ignorance of the law is not excuse. And if they tried to set me up by calling and asking if I needed drugs, they'd be disappointed because I'd say, "No, I don't do drugs. They're ILLEGAL." If you don't break the law, you have nothing to fear.

Well everyone but one person they contacted did that.

The only person who responded was the 24 yr old female who was also arrested. THey lured her in to sell drugs, not buy.

Everyone else ask "what are you talking about?" When contacted.

This is simple.. Yes what was done was illegal, and she is not trying to get out of that fact PERIOD. She realizes what she did was wrong, and is willing to pay the price for what she has done..

But, they are trying to accuse of much more. THey are trying to accuse of trafficking and distribution. This piece of the puzzle is untrue and false. This is what we are concerned about. THe Paris Police Department is trying to claim something that is not true.

You are a liar, the plants were way bigger than that,we can see the pictures with our own eyes. I'm sure they took pictues at the house too. I guess whne it goes before the judge and jury they can decide. Stop blaming the police for doing what is right, you're family member was breaking the law PERIOD!

This is so outrageous,to ruin someones life over plants. WTF is going on here? Texas needs to wake up, but specifically Paris Texas. Look around, it is 2010 not the 30's again, is it? She has Cancer, and obviously Pot is her medicine of choice. She shouldn't be bullied into taking prescription drugs that don't work for her.
And do you really know why Pot is ILLEGAL in the first place. Prohibition of the 30's-Reefer Madness- It was all hype then and it's all hype NOW. No one has ever died from smoking Marijuana. It was classified a schedule I drug due to the fact politician have the power to make it that way and if they didn't they could not have this WAR on DRUGS...

Maybe she didn't have the resources to move to California. But what makes Texas your state. I work here and pay my taxes here,
I own multiple homes, take care of my children. So I am not sure where you get off.... acting like your above others and own the state. huh!!! Your basically one of the tyrants the first poster was talking about. Let me guess, your going to attack my education again instead of sticking to the Topix.

How many of you here dislike obama and everything he's done? How many of you here hate the evergrowing government invasion into our personal lives?
And how many of you are the exact same ones that would love to see someone thrown in jail for a PLANT?

Hypocrites.

What part of illegal do you not understand????? If she needed it for her cancer she could have gotten someone to get it for her,but she decided to grow it,LOTS OF IT! Now she goes to jail where we the people are still paying her bills. My poor dead brother-in-law had cancer and fought it tooth and nail,he never filed for disability he worked almost to the end.

Apparently u don't understand illegal either because selling it is ILLEGAL as well. I don't smoke the stuff, or do anything else, but this is the most natural drug that we have. Thats including beer and anything else that America produces for their enjoyment. If it was legal here there would be a lot less problems. Not to mention all the Mexican Drug Cartells would be put out of business, and a lot more lives would be saved. Its stupid that people get on here and have no clue what they are talking about they just bs to try to get their point across.

You are funny. On the Does Paris Have Laws thread you said this: "This 55 year old female is disabled due to past medical issues. Broken back, cancer, etc." Note the word PAST.

When someone on this post has anything to add that comes from reliable verifiable facts, I will listen. Until then , it is just opinions of people so far behind the times, they may as well be living in the 30's. They would believe anything the media is saying.(Reefer Madness) I don't care if you believe it or not. Marijuana is medicine and has been used that way for thousands of years. The thing is, in this day and age is if Marijuana were legal you wouldn't have all these pharmaceutical companies profitting BILLIONS of dollars on unnecessary pills given to patients. Marijuana WOULD take the place of 90% of drugs prescribed today and it is 100% natural. Now that is FACT.... www.norml.gov see for yourself
GREED is the reason Marijuana is not legal. The right people are not lined up to make the money off taxation. So it is ILLEGAL. Plain and simple. Not because it doesn't work and help ailments.
