The Waynesboro Police Department has obtained a felony drug distribution charge for Denzel Tyrone Washington, 28, no fixed address, in connection with the ongoing investigation of the home invasion and felonious assault that took place on December 3, 2012.

Where do you get your statistics from?
What it does show is that a person who choses to hurt someone else, will do it; it wasn't a law abiding citizen protecting themselves, but a felon shooting his own mother. He hurt her, not the gun. He could have beat her with a bat, or stabbed her, or strangled her.
The fact that a family member shot her isn't as relevant as the fact that a felon, who doesn't obey the current laws, much less new ones, shot her. Gun laws aren't going to change the wicked heart of someone bent on hurting another human being.
