I moved here from a state that was number one for meth lab busts in the country. Virginia seems to be catching up fast. I saw all the rural towns shut down from the bad economy which was replaced by the meth economy. Walking around the grocery store was like being on the set of a zombie movie. No one dealt with the problem until it was too late and now it appears to be unstoppable. Soon enough there will not be enough foster parents in all of Virginia for all the children taken by cps.

It would appear or so I have heard that Nelson has fast become the home of oxycodone heads. Lots of folks are loosing their homes as a result. Alot of them with kids. This is tragic. Why can't we track the the scripts all the doctors write for this stuff? Appearently theres tons of this stuff out there. Where the heck is it coming from?

Sez the prescription drug epidemic is rampant in the youth of the valley as well. When are Drs going to stop over prescribing narcotics?

A drink or a toke are both relatively harmless compared to what methamphetamine does to your body and mind. Think twice, young people, before accepting a hit of this from one of your "friends."

Well not much really, but we are now on the hook for funding the futures of all involved.

There is framework for a new law from WV today reported.

Looks like it will fill prisons faster , nothing to work on the problems of addiction.

"Sen. Joe Manchin Introduces Prescription Drug Abuse bill"

Just change the class to fill prisons .

We never learn

Great point. Until we reduce demand there will continue to be people willing to take the risk to supply. I don't know what the answer is to prevent addiction. Alcohol and drug addiction and the crimes related to them continue to overload our jails and prisons and create a burden on social services as children are removed from homes like in the above case. I feel certain this family didnt hide their attempt to manufacture so now you have a teenager that thinks this is an acceptable way to live

I am iffy about 10 years in a non-violent situation and a 15 YO. A LAB = nothing ... the cops always write it up like it's a NASA space station if its baggies and a 16 oz bottle shaking meth or crack .. one of them they can shake in a bottle now. Remember ,to fund all the big stuff you have to look busy and justify the expense = DUMB everything down to where we say .. OH well is it really bad or should we even care .... WRITE it up as is = HUGE LAB or a damm baggie and a bottle .... If they showed pictures and these people have a filthy mess COOKING meth , like the one that explode and blow the house up . I would HAMMER them if I were the judge or jury .

You are right , it's wrong all the way around .

If the kid was 0-12 or so .. I say give em both 20 MIN with any drug use or mfg in front of little kids= PURE TRASH = find anything you can scrape out of a pipe if it's all you got .

I am on record being a full hypocrite when it comes to drugs .

I just don't know , what I do know is . I was addicted to nicotine on and off 25 years ... I could still eat one today , I loved to smoke filthiest habit in the world. I LOVED EM ... I don't want anything make me so stupid I cook it up in front of kids , worse yet your very own .

the meth and crack , that is some nasty stuff.

Just the physical deterioration you can see as they age so fast is unbelievable , I cannot imagine what their insides look like.

I am still for treatment if no violence was used Ö but not arrest after arrest like you see some over and over and meth and crack seem to always lead there. You donít even see that with pot and pills or alcohol really .

Meth and crack changes people , even toward their own parents .. and its so fast. A few years and they look 30 40 years older., arrested 20 times. These two here , for their ages both are not bad looking people Ö give two years you wont recoginze either one of them .

Look at their expressions and eyes = EMPTY

Bad stuff.. I don't know what the answer is.

I get the feeling both busts this week were probably more in line with the 2 liter bottle shake and bake instead of a real lab setup. But if your gonna call in the hazmat team you want to make it look good to the media and it probably the same with the bottle as the lab when you get to court...manufacturing. What disturbs me is i have been hearing that heroin is on the upswing in our area as young people discover it becoming cheaper than prescription narcotics and more available as the dealers see demand. Every generation has their drug of choice that destroys the lives of those who fall into the cycle of abuse
