Bonnie Franklin, the pert, redheaded actress whom millions came to identify with for her role as divorced mom Ann Romano on the long-running sitcom "One Day at a Time," has died of pancreatic cancer.

Dale Robertson, who parlayed his Oklahoma drawl and a way with horses into a long career as a popular, strong-minded star of westerns on television and in the movies, died on Wednesday in San Diego. He was 89.
The cause was complications of lung cancer and pneumonia.
Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer after being ill for over a year. He died in 2009.
Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer and died at the age of 62.
Ben Gazzara, whose powerful dramatic performances brought an intensity to a variety of roles and made him a memorable presence in such iconic productions over the decades as the original "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" on Broadway and the film "The Big Lebowski," has died at age 81.
Longtime family friend Suzanne Mados said Gazzara died Friday in Manhattan. Mados, who owned the Wyndham Hotel, where celebrities such as Peter Falk and Martin Sheen stayed, said he died after being placed in hospice care for cancer.
Where was Rannity or Limbaughtomy "bloviating" how "great" the most expensive health care system in the world is?
Wow, 81 and 89 year old people died? Holy crap, it's a health care crisis!!

Go to Cuba, idiot. It's a short raft ride for you.

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez received treatment in Cuba earlier this year for an unknown cancer. He had his fourth and final bout of chemotherapy in Cuba last month. He had surgery to remove a tumour from his pelvic region in June and is now being evaluated by doctors, who hope he may fully recover.
Argentinian leader Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said on Dec 22 that she has thyroid cancer. The disease was discovered during routine medical tests, but it is thought she has a good chance of survival. The thyroid gland cancer has not spread to other parts of her body. She will have an operation on January 4.
The health of Dilma Rousseff, the president of Brazil, made the news in 2009 when she was diagnosed with cancer of the lymph system. Brazil's first female president has cancer check-ups every six months but said the cancer is 'resolved' and she is in 'good health'.
Ex-Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was diagnosed with throat cancer in October this year. The popular former leader, 66, began chemotherapy to treat a tumour in his larynx, with medics describing him as 'well'.
Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo, 60, was diagnosed with lymphoma in August 2010 but is now in remission after undergoing chemotherapy. Doctors discovered the lymphoma following a biopsy on a gland they had removed from his groin during minor surgery in August 2010. The malignant tumour is treatable with chemo.
Fidel Castro of Cuba has Terminal Cancer.
This also Bolivar President Evo Morales and Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos all had some type of Cancers?

Chavez had plenty of failings, including his friendship with Cuba, but he also did a lot for Venezuela and its people. His was a mixed legacy, but let's not forget the good the man did.
Adios, amigo!
Sean Penn, is that you?

Yeah, a lot of great things for his people, like pocketing a couple billion bucks for himself.

After spending 3 miserable weeks in Venezuela I learned first hand that the people of the country really hated Chavez but, too afraid to say anything. One comment rings in my head "f_ck Chavez"
This is a beautiful county with shithead leaders I hope for change for these poor people.

Will the First Family and a delegaton of congressional "Progressives" be traveling to Venezuela to publicly mourn Chavez's passing at the Funeral? This must be a very sad time for the President.

U.s. Presidents Bush and Obama have both set themselves against Chavez and his socialist party. Only an idiot would pretend otherwise.

Not that you have to "pretend" to be an idiot, Dan...:)

Once again "thank you" for being on "troll patrol" Some of these righties are so screwy with their complete hatred of President Obama they'll try to tie him to anything negative or hateful. You are much more patient with these fools than I can be.

The irony of life! Mr Chavez knew all along that the USA is one hundred years ahead in medicine (and a score of other thechnologies)of the next country, whichever it is. So had he been just friends with the 'gringos imperialistas' instead of a bitter foe, he would have chosen to be treated in the USA. The outcome? At this very moment, Mr. Chavez would have still been enjoying a few more years of life, be together with his socialists pals, keep telling jokes about 'how good socialism is'and all the rest of BS. So is life, Mr. Chavez.

When Bush was president, liberals said all the bad blood between the USA and Venezuela was Bush's fault. But anyone else notice there was no improvement in the relationship between the two countries after Obama was elected?

I've noticed - and blame Obama for it, too. U.S. imperialism in the Western Hemisphere is nothing new, though. FDR, for instance, was a big fan of the original Somoza in Nicaragua.
