Drug testing should be allow on people who receive welfare because that would slow down drugs sells.

It is about time a bill like this is being brought up by lawmakers and I hope it will pass. Seems like the only way to cut down on drugs.

This bill has 100% of my support! I believe if you are going to take advantage of the Government aide programs then you should be subject to a drug test. I also believe they should take it one step further and remove benefits if you test positive for drugs.. PERIOD!

That sounds fine and I don't think people should get disability payments because they are drug addicts.Just my opinion!

sue i think you are justified in saying what u said but what about the people that have to take nacotics and take them the right way (like the dr prescribes it) i take mine as prescribed no more no less just like i am supose to but if they test positive for a drug how do you know the difference between taking them the right way an abusing them especially if they dont do the levels now answer that one.

If I need to pass a drug test to pay into the system they should have to pass one to take out.

I think that random drug tests on all who receive state benefits would weed out the one who sell stamps for their drugs. This law should be passed in every state! And just like with jobs any narcotics taken the legal way would be documented with proof of prescriptions without penalty to receiving benenfits!!

In reference to the comment from Boo Boo....If you have a prescription for a narcotic, that would be documented in your medical record. I think this is more in reference to those using illegal drugs. The testing is able to differentiate between the two.

I have to pass a random drug test for my place of employment. I never worry that I might fail because I don't use illegal drugs. People who are getting help from the government can't afford illegal drugs.....So they should night have a problem passing a drug test. LOL I hope all states pass the same law..

---- If you have a VALID perscription- then when that drug is in your system, it is ok. Its for drugs that you DON"T have a perscription for that they test for.

If the narcotic has been prescribed to you then you should be able to prove that it is prescribed. If it isn't then people shouldn't receive welfare.

I do agree that people should have to take a drug test to receive food stamps, but what I worry about is the children. If the parents fail the drug test, then just think of how many children will be suffering and going hungry because of it.

If you're worried about what would happen to the children if welfare is denied because the parents fail the drug test, please think about this: What is the quality of life for a child whose parent or parents are using drugs? My step-daughter and her worthless boyfriend have received state benefits for years, they eat way better than most people I know and have a huge drug habit. I see my grandkids suffer because of it. I believe that some people absolutely will not become a productive member of society if they keep receiving handouts. I mean, why work when you get free money, free food and you can stay high all the time. The time-worn statement is true: "If I have to pass a drug test to GET a job, welfare recipients should have to pass a drug test to enjoy the benefits of my money."

Screw random. Test every single one of them! If they fail and have children, call DSS to take the kids away.

this is one of those iffey ones to me dont agree with people on illegal drugs getting food stamps but on the other hand who is paying for all these tests and whos paying for all the red tape the diabled and elderly will have to go threw now .the parents that are doing drugs will not go get the foodstamps they need and the ones that will suffer will be the innocent children.

we could probably discuss this all night because things are not like they used to be there are families that are hit hard with these times and need help ..might weed out a few drug users but sounds like more an exspense to the tax payers al...l the way around ..more i think about it i dont care for it going to be alot longer lines to get help and recerting will be a pain because that will do away with phone recerts not everyone that gets help does drugs makes me sick all the ederly or diabled will be dragged out for one more dumb law someone passed.
there are more than 600,000 adult Kentuckians on welfare, and a drug test would cost about $30. If all recipients took a test, the cost would be at least $18 million yep get ready to see taxes soar
