In the first place, the arrest or detention was a USELESS gesture knowing that they will have to be released. It is simply a waste of time.
This kind of USELESS gesture on the part of the Japanese will cause Japan to lose the Okinawan Islands and lose the huge market in China which China can close it to punish the Japanese.
