If people like William Gheen truly are the popular force that they pretend to be, why is that anti-migrant politicans keep losing elections?

I know ALIPAC will be crowding this forum. Try coming up with something a little bit more creative this time than capitalizing the word ILLEGALZ, yes?

This is like the elephant in the living room. People prefer to talk about the trunk, talk about the feet, talk about the tusks, etc.

But get real folks. Immigration is driving the U.S. to a BILLION people by 2090. And creating the largest underclass in the history of this country.

It's the elephant's weight folks. It's HUGE and must be talked about.

What the F***! It is amazing to me that the pharse ILLEGAL immigrant is taking so lightly. First, they come into this country ILLEGALLY, Second, have ANCHOR babies, Third, DEMAND that they have rights, Fourth, have the NERVE to get upset when companies have crackdowns and Fifth, HIDE in churches when they dont want to go back to Mexico. What a joke and it is not funny.

So, what you are saying is that people should be allowed to come and go as they please in this country? I am not being sarcastic. I am just trying to make sure I understand where you are coming from.

Thank you for presenting an intelligent comment regarding illegal immigration without resorting to name calling. I think we need more people on here using this forum for intelligent discussion and points of views.

The people who are illegally in America need to go home to their country and work to make it a better place. That is what a person who really loves their country and cares about it would do. They wouldn't just stay illegally in a country.

I'm saying that unauthorized migrants should be treated humanely. The only real way we are going to solve this problem, is by creating opportunities in the countries migrants are fleeing from. In the meantime, it doesn't make any sense to force millions of people to live in absolute fear.

Employers should be subject to harsh penalties for exploiting laborers and driving wages down using migrants down. Targeting migrants themselves though doesn't make any sense.

How are you going to spend millions on a raid in Postville to further terrorize migrants that were already being employed as children and subject to sexual abuse, only to have them be at risk of dieing in a detention center from inadequate medical care. This is not the type of country that any U.S. citizen wants to live in.

Another nativist tactic. Label yourself with a Latino name to make an anti-migrant comment, and then act like this debate is not about race.

I'm going to bed. But if anyone in the U.S. is reading these comments and thinking they are in any way indicative of public opinion, look at the polls and keep in mind that politicians running on an "anti-illegal immigration" platform have failed time and time again.

Do not let nativists sitting at their computers at all hours of the day sway your opinion.

Since 9-11, we have really stepped up our efforts on 'immigrant crackdowns' and created a police state where the ICE runs about terrorizing our communities, criminalizing migrant workers, deporting students--immigration, and especially illegal immigration, is treated as a 'national security' issue without any warrants. What immigrant crackdown and detention has done is disrupt local economies, put fear into our children, and create profits for giant incarcerating corporations. Has the plight of the poor and unemployed improved? Is this country more 'secure?' None of these actions help your average American worker. They are simply distractions.
The 9-11 terrorists were all here legally--Lets stop creating scapegoats and wanton distractions and focus on the real problems.
Now my gas prices are going up to more than $5 this summer and I can hardly afford to pay for surgery on my wrist -- and no illegal immigrant, migrant worker or undocumented student is to blame for that. We need CIR and DREAM now!

This is typical of the misinformation that the other side spreads. The 9/11 hijackers were in the U.S. legally. Keep spreading your lies, hate, and fear all you want.

How can the pro amnesty crowd ever hope to win? The latest polls show 80% of Americans want our borders sealed and our immigration laws enforced. Why do you think we have immigration laws? Without immigration laws we'd be the most populace country in the world. Half of Mexico, India and China would immigrate here immediately. In time, half of Africa would also immigrate here. Our economy would be in shambles. Our political system taken hostage. The fate of the greatest nation in history would be turned into a third world nation. Massive overcrowding, an infrastructure that would fail, water shortages, and jobs at slave wages. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Illegal immigration must stop NOW!

If this is about the law then why are so many wealthy scrupulous Americans denouncing illegal immigration. It's either that they're benefiting from it in some facet or disregard it because it causes no impediment towards their success in life. The people who cry and moan about illegal immigration are vastly poor, working class Americans who aren't savvy enough to "make it to the top." America is the easiest place to succeed. If you can't succeed in America and rise out of poverty then what say do you have in a complicated, multi-faceted issue. The search for an answer pertaining to a naive person is to find an elementary subject that he/she can easily blame, whether it be big business, illegal aliens, or your spouse. Please stick to the creed that "A mind is a beautiful thing to waste." Find a solution out of your problems because there is no one more to blame than yourself.

When I took the oath of allegiance, I was promising to uphold American values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For me that meant recognizing that every human on this planet is entitled to be treated with dignity and respect. The anti-immigrant folks are undermining due process in this country - and this is going to undermine ALL our rights. So let's get focused on finding real and fair solutions to immigration policy instead of creating a racist police state.
