Removing Basketball Hoops In Parks: Has It Deterred Crime?

Forbes blogger, Bob Cook, who is also an Oak Lawn resident, weighed in on the prospect recently suggested at a park board meeting of taking down the basketball hoops at local parks as a public safety measure and less enticing to non-residents and others prone to misusing the parks and disturbing nearby residents.
The problem is not with the hoops, but with the non-residential use.
