emum wrote: <quoted text>I agree with this. My boy was in the hospital for another medical condition when he had his VI. ALL his symptoms were similar to K. Not as severe but similar. Another interesting thing to mention, my sons paediatritian recognised there was something wrong and he was treated immeadiately. If I was at home, I may have missed the initial symptoms or put down his temperature and lethargy to the vaccine or a virus.(High temps are common after a vaccine) He had classic symptoms of "SBS" he was diagnosed with a VI. The same goes with meningitis, and other viruses that can cause severe brain injury. My son and I were in the right place at the right time. His Pead is a senior specialist and on the ball. If I presented at the ER with my baby without any prior problems, he would have been seen by a registrar, and possibly sent home or investigated from the symptoms at hand. We are certainly not saying all doctors are bad. There are some good ones out there but we are all human. If you look at the case, it's hard to figure out how they were able to rule out everything else over the weekend. As I have said before, the diagnosis came much too quick to have been done accurately. They would have been too busy treating a life and death situation than to properly diagnose what was causing it. Besides, this is not an episode of House where all the specialists are in a room diagnosing the problem with the use of a white board. They are treating for the brain swell. Goes back to the old saying, "shoot first, ask questions later." Were the questions ever asked?

Mark Never mentioned you name and I don't think he was even implying it was you. I could see and understand where you might think this if you and him were the only 2 people on the face of the earth, but you're not. If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I think he was talking about people in general... and not singling you out dear.

There have been numerous people on here who have felt this exact way. That was the point I was trying to get across.

I agree with that! People keep forgetting to consider how quick a diagnosis was reached. That to me tells me that they rushed it, and very likely did not look for ALL other conditions that mimic the theory of sbs... Here's a case where the doctors end up blaming each other for mistakes. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,522785,00...

The specialist are basing their diagnosis on a child with a "Clean Bill of Health". See where I'm getting at? If the child was sick prior and the specialists were not informed of this........All they see is a child with SBS symptoms with no explanation for it all because the Pediatrician may have missed something. The other thing too is that if he had never been seen in that ER before, those doctors don't know what his past health was!

It really pisses me off that K can go to her private Myspace and Facebook daily but is too busy to go to the mommy of the year Myspace. If he was shaken she makes herself look even more guilty in my eyes!

More good reading. http://www.scn.org/autistics/notguilty.html Makes me believe R's PD is inspired and thinks she is innocent.

You hear so many horror stories about having a PD and how they do very little to help a case. Every once in awhile you come across one who gets interested in the case and goes many steps forward to defend their client. That's the way it should be.

Sorry to be slow, but how does this link, though I good read, have anything to do with R's case? I would love to believe that she is getting the very best counsel!
