.

Gone are the days of the Woolco store and an
old drive in Movie theater. Does anyone
remember the name? There used to be a
club for African Americans there also.

Drive in was the Del Norte, I believe...
And how wonderful that this eyesore area will be 'FINALLY' put to good use for this part of Northeast... it also will relieve some of the 'traffic' and congestion of the Transmountain Walmart....

Thank you progress, sometimes it takes a decade or two for it to work....

Oh please tell me this fine flea market will surface someplace else more appropriate for it like southeast Juarez.

that sucks..i enjoyed going to the flea market every sunday when i was a young boy. back then it was the entire front parking lot around the sides and to the rear of the building. then i enjoyed it more when it was moved inside; it was cooler and you knew where to look for what you wanted.
Come on a Wal-Mart in this area.

No one has mentioned the traffic congestion that is sure to become a big headache, and it is going to become a wreck a day site, however I look forward to having a major retailer in our community and at the same time feel bad for the mom and pop shops in the area but its called progress, get over it, we are not living in the 60's they will adjust just like everyone else has adjusted to changes in our lives.

The great mom-n-pop killer is coming to a neighborhood near you. The condition of the road at the intersection of Dyer and Fred Wilson is terrible due to the over weight CEMEX trucks that use the road six days a week, and the infrastructure won't handle all the traffic that Wal-Mart will bring. Stand at the corner of that intersection at noon any week day and see just how crowded the road is and then you should think twice about having them move in.

I can't imagine this area has the infrastructure or size for a Supercenter. Walmart builds Supercenters adjacent to major highways which this lot does not have. If it is a Supercenter I agree with everyone that says the traffic around that area will be an absolute nightmare. There is no easy access and there are residential areas surrounding it. I suspect it is a Neighborhood Walmart.

absolutely----WONDERFUL. no small mom and pop stores have been able to make a go of this area. looking forward to the new walmart market and the revitalization that will occur in the area as a result. also looking forward to less traffic at the transmountain location. this sounds like a win-win situation for the northeast/central area of el paso..... finally!!

I agree......I don't think it's going to be a Supercenter. I believe too that it will be a Neighborhood Walmart.

The buildings were so delapidated and out of code compliance. The should have been torn down years ago. And when you gripe about Wally world coming in are you also going to gripe about the number of jobs created in the construction of the Wally world? Or the number of Jobs that will be available to the general public at Wally World? There might be some traffic congestion there but when it was just a flea market on the weekend, there was a lot of traffic congestion. Time for many things to progress and improve when everything is old and broken. This is one of them. And the Drive inn was either the Rocket or the Cactus.

You MORONS, the traffic congestion is already a mess in this area. That means hang up and drive! Don't cross the street without looking and run don't walk cuz that car is probably faster then you think!

I would prefer a neighborhood Walmart over the apartment complex that was mentioned!
