These condo owners are baffling. The one developed in Lancaster is quite nice and the residents seem to take pride in their apartments. At any given time of year you can see tasteful decorations, flowers, and plants that the residents have done themselves. Low income is NOT low income. It's not all the same. Normal low income housing does attract crime and unsavory characters. Here's a newsflash: many, many elderly are low income simply because of low Social Security payments and high prescription costs. Personally, I think the elderly IMPROVE a community.
PS I also think it's funny that condo owners in CW are on a high horse. You own a condo. In Canal Winchester. Have fun with your home value ever increasing! Pathetic.
That was also my initial thought, but I think CMHA poisoned the water with the slum they created on Gender Road. Allowing that complex to go up out there was irresponsible on their part. People in that part of the county are tired of getting dumped on all the time and are sick of it.

I also think there's an issue of what will happen to those apartments 30 years from now. Older apartments on the east side don't have a very good track record. Sooner or later, unsavories end up there.

Score one for the givers, the taxpayers, the producers of the world. Go ahead and call them names, they worked hard and earned the money to afford decent homes, all the while forking over money to support other people who did not work hard, paid few taxes and were the takers. Not every senior citizen is an angelic old lady with a cane trying to cross the street.
Are you kidding me? Not every condo owner is legit and honest person either. I hope you are old and in need some day. You reap what you sow.

I can't help but wonder your political persuasions. I imagine you condo owners are also all democrats. Screaming at us all to treat everyone equal and we need to all embrace everyone and be tolerant. You must have to have a certain income for that to be the case in your world.

We can thank former Republican commissioners Dewey, Dot and Arlene for the ghetto apartments on Gender Road, i.e. George's Creek, etc. Canal Winchester has never been the same! And if that sounds elitist, so be it!
I thought democrats were for loving and embracing everyone and being tolerant. Again, I guess that's if you meet their socio-economic criteria first. How hypocritical can you be?

I think it is a shame the way that senior citizens are being treated. In most countries the elderly are revered but not here, not only they don't care about the elderly, they dont care about young adults. Columbus Ohio is going to hell with their eyes wide open.
Canal Winchester and some others need to look to God because he is sure looking down on them. The Bible says honor they mother and thy father, but not Canal Winchester

There's a difference between low income and poor. Elderly residents living in "subsidized" housing is not the same as the poor people living in projects making bad choices over and over again.
Thanks for nailing this key point. And many senior citizens need subsidized housing because they were making maybe 2% on any investments they may have had - insuring that they had to use up the principal just to live.Let alone a social security freeze.

Same on the west side. I've been told by friends that 30 years ago, Lincoln Village West, aka Shannon Way, aka Wingate Estates was THE place to live for decent working people. Look at it now. Thankfully, the casino will destroy it.

Yes, Shannon Way circa 1985 was a decent complex, but like everything else in life it gets old, used up and then thrown out. Any housing development catering to working people will start out just like a shiny new car. It will be fine at first, then as the cookie-cutter homes get bought and resold, they eventually end up being some boogie boy's 1977 Chevy Impala. That's just life.

The CMHA project on Gender Road was indeed that, the projects. Columbus liberal social engineers don't like it when people move out of the decrepit slums of the inner city, so their answer is to bring the slums to you .......... all in the name of "fairness".

Notice, however, they don't dump any of these slums on Dublin, Upper Arlington or Powell .......... they only try to impose their egalitarian beliefs on other people, working people.
