Can anyone tell me if this is going to be a Super Center with groceries similiar to the one in North Versailles. I am getting reports that it is not going to sell groceries because of a injunction granted by the courts to protect neighboring Giant Eagles. I hope this is not the case because Giant Eagles prices are ridiculously high.

Why can,t someone compete with them the Wal-Mart kingdom is getting old. Every new one they put up keeps there control over the area even greater. And please don,t say Target they are slowly sinking. Once there entrenched its there prices only that will control your budget. There will be no more shopping for the "Best Buy or Deal"

Walmarts prices are always lower than Giant Eagles no matter how much they creep up. I have been a Walmart food shopper for years and with my large family I save hundreds of dollars a month. I have to feed growing football players and a very hard working construction worker and their prices do right by me. "Let's GO Walmart". In addition it will add jobs to the area for people who need them.

I too have a family also two swimmers, who then they turn right over to football. I am also a union construction worker. But I think Wal-Mart undermines the word "value" when there are no more stores to compare it too. A good deal is only as good when you have chances to compare it to other stores. If you look around maybe its the same there as here, alot of good memoeries about things that "use" to be there. Hence the need for jobs, not creating just starting to work at a new place.

Dont worry about prices, the place will be closed in 2 years-the time it will take the druggies, thieves and hoodrats to rob the place BLIND. Dont these places do market research anymore-what are they thinking? I would love to shop there but who would subject their families to the scum this place will attract, and you will see the worst of the worst. Now the welfare garbage can save their gas money, they dont have to drive to N. Versailles anymore.

I'm wondering, if you know what are the consequences of have a new Wal-Mart in the community? I know that its true that sometimes they have a lower prices. However all the benefits that the small business are bringing to the community are bigger, like: values, better customer service, help to the community with more taxes than Wal-mart or other big chains are paying that support to have more schools, public libraries, parks, clean environment without a lot of traffic, support the farmers, etc.
Every time, when we buy with the small business, we are helping to keep the community better off.
Better jobs with better wages that big chains.
When the big chains are coming the small businesses close and a lot of jobs lost!
Its the reason that I dont think Wal-mart could help us to be better off!

I've seen more Walmarts in western PA than I've seen anywhere else in the country. And guess what? I've seen more small businesses in western PA than I've seen anywhere else in the country. Walmart isn't squeezing small businesses in western PA whatsoever.

Jesus died for that "scum" and "garbage" and you too. Visit Petra International currently in the Eastgate community for awhile and see if your attitude doesn't change. They will be "in charge" You need Jesus to help you with that hate you are carrying around. May God bless your heart and soul.

First of all the unions would like you too think that Giant Eagle charges you more for their groceries because they pay more. Where it is a union store the union sold these employees down the river years ago. Minimum wage and having to pay for union dues is a disgrace. Then to keep the part timers from revolting they wont let them vote. The union is making a fortune, Giant Eagle is making a killing all the while laughing at you idiots behind your back. This si America and we are a free country to everyone. Not just stores that will pay off the local communities to let them in. Pitcairn was the big loser in the Monroeville/Pitcairn turn down. Joes butcher in town who hires under the table and charges over two fifty for a two liter of Pepsi is the winner. Its Free ENTERPRISE and they took the system and used it too make the largest company in the world. If you cant compete stay off the porch. The day of small ma and pa stores are over and it has nothing to do with Wal Mart. They cheated and gouged Americas pockets for way too long. Lower prices mean lower cost of living. Kmart and whoever else choose not to compete because they want the same profit they were making when they started killing off the small buisness. The times change and upper management in most companies just give themselves big raises instead of upgrading and spending money on stores. And the person who said Target is going down. Well I dont know what facts they are based on but they are still a very sucessful company. Their profits went down as did Wal Marts because the economy is in the toilet. Blame Wal Mart for that. Macys starts their employees at minimum wage. With one of the highest profit margins of all the department stores. Why doesnt unions target them, KMart, Target, etc. Because they arent number one and they dont allow any union to make the billions off their employees like Wal Mart would. Unions dont give a crap about Wal Mart or you. This is a big paycheck for unions to take over. Talk to a part time employee at Giant Eagle who by the way only hires 90 percent part time and forcing their employees to join a union. Initiation fees, weekly dues and no voting rights whatsoever. This is the worst system I ever heard. You pay but keep your mouth shut! Who the hell runs this union the mafia. Area around the Greensburg Wal MArt has thrived since built. Westmoreland mall is still there and there are about as many empty stores as before they came. Scratch that there is less cause if you count the over 100 stores that were sitting empty and decaying long before Wal Mart in Greengate there was more empty storerooms. Dont give me North Versailles as an example for that area has always been low on the retail chain. And Eastland Mall was long gone before they opened. Kohls another success story has fared well against Wal Mart and are still opening stores along with Target. Target wanted a super store in Monroeville to get nothing but grief from Monroeville council in their preliminary talks. No one is allowed to compete with Giant Eagle in Monroeville. Shop n Save wanted to build in the Giant Eagle when they moved out of the store where Jo Ann Fabrics and Babies R Us was and they were told there wasnt enough parking when Giant Eagle just moved out. Causing the store to go to Wilkins Township. Speaking of Wilkins Township take a look at Penn Center. No Wal MArt killed that shopping and office complex but half of it sits empty begging for tenants. This is AMERICA people home of the free. I guess unless your Wal Mart. In Monroeville its free unless you want to compete with Giant Eagle

Walmart takes our jobs and sends them overseas then replaces them with jobs below poverty level. Send them a message and don't shop there
