There you go spending money again. It's like butter in your hands. Can't you all just get along. Work together like the rest of us have to. We elected you all for a reason. Do the job and stop bickering.

You are seeing these retreats show up in a lot of cities lately. It is a toughy because I like both of these men.
Mr. Bombadilla is going way to fast. He is trying to seize powers that should not be his alone.
In the structure of El Monte, everybody does answer to the City Manager. But until recently we had a passive city manager.
I like Mr. Quintero, I was looking forward to his mayorial guidance, still am.
I know Bombadilla is an engineer, he wants to build things, he was active on the alameda corridor, he is part of a speaker conference, and is going to discuss the reuse of old building space, either SGVEP or SCAG, coming up soon.
I am shocked he would try to take a meeting concerning El monte into South El Monte, and if he is concerned with space, it is only because he likes to grandstand to, townhalls, half empty as they are now. We have plenty of space.
I am against El Montes rush to continue the El monte Busway and Transit center, Transit center part, I am against a Wal mart, and understand there is consideration of a sports complex in the same spot, I would like a dual music center, performing arts and sports center,
The city has been holding closed sessions regarding the John Leung Bankruptcy, the land being held in the Leung family trust, and now some USDCDOs collateralized debt obligations,
All coined with concerning pending or possible litigation, no names released to us the citizens that vote for them?
Retreat to repeat I always say.

This is a clear WASTE of City Tax Dollars!$8,000 to have a damned meeting? Come on!

I know he is the Mayor but it is not like he is any different form the 4 other people on the city council. The only real difference is that he has to run every 2 years instead of 4 and gets to put Mayor on his business card. I guess what I'm saying is that Andre needs to stop acting like his word is the only one that matters on the City Council. He is not the President of El Monte. The other 4 have a vote on all decisions too and last time I check that vote was no less important that the Mayor's vote.

I agree with LTL! Mayor Quintero (who by the way lives with his wife & child in Riverside and not in El Monte) believes he is better than everyone including his fellow peers. This idiot forgets that the only reason he is mayor is because he ran against the corrupt drunk Ernie Gutierrez (with union bribes & strings). Lucky for el monte residents, he is only ONE vote and his term is only two years and if he does not change his corrupted and stupid ways he will also be kicked out to the curb as Ernie was

Lives in Riverside, huh. very interesting just another politician who looks at this like a job, because he does no live here. so what does it matter what he really does to us. shouldn't they already have people skills?, if not, how in the you know what were they elected? Why are they wasting our money, with retreats?

This is the same thing that the administrators do at the school district. Spend money to go to a nice hotel, golf, eat, drink, and then turn in their receipts and get reimbursed. All the while the "workers' are still at the district working doing their jobs.Total waste of money, why do they do it? Because they can!

They call it the Administrators Retreat. What do they learn? They learn how to turn in their food bills, mileage, hotel bills and get fatter and fatter. Have you seen the superintendent lately and the school principals? FAT CATS living high on the HOG with tax payers money. Students? Ah... what's that? Teachers? Ah....what's that? Classified employees? Ah....what's that?

Better yet, let's just stay at the district and celebrate the opening of a new toilet! Hey El Monte council members, you better get on that meal ticket, call the superintendent of the El Monte City School district and he will tell you about the retreats that he has been on. Oh, wait, but last year it was downsized. Yeah, just like their morals!

I wonder what they'll discuss at the retreat. Perhaps the City Attorney Clarke Moseley's recent resignation?

They discussed that at the May 4 agenda meeting it was closed session. We can't know for their own good. Us peasants might dare climb the tower, with torches and farm weapons. Mr. Moseley actually retired a few years back, but was doing that partial work hours per year hangy on, and this is a forced resignation. Does anyone know why?

Somehow I knew they would need to hire another attorney to protect them from him. I felt it strongly in the Measure P 2006 antics. Pretty sure little clark got caught with his whole hand in the plum pie.

well...you might want to read their city council agenda from this Tuesday (5/4), and read about pending litigation to be discussed in closed session. That might offer a clue on what's occurring inside that ivory tower....

How amusing, I always read the CC sessions agenda, I am sure what ever unseated a city attorney, is of titanic proportions. I went to the meeting, poor dondek, is such a liar that while it was "resignation" he came out to the few and announced the retirement of clark moseley was discussed...

We have a new interim law firm, as our attorney now.

Bye Clark, what "the grapevine" is saying is that Moseley screwed up in one of the court cases named there, which is now going to civil court (farther than the city probably thought it would go), and so Clarke was "advised" to resign, so you are right, it was forced. Also, if even half the things that supposedly occurred in that legal case are true, then it is a case of titanic proportions.

Ok we have the JT bankruptcy, and then there is the USD CD O's
(collateral debt obligations), is that the way some of the buildings were financed versus bonds? We know he is pro development, did he sell el monte to the chinese as his final masterpiece? Maybe he has gotten the city in bed with an assetless grifter who like him hides his assets, in other families names. Or maybe he was named in a civil suit by the victims of titanic proportions

Mr. Quintero
(aka Tax-em until they scream Andre)
doesn't want a Walmart here in El Monte.
That's well and good.

What about the rest of us, who shop in Walmarts in Baldwin Park, Rosemead, and/or Monrovia?

Let's have a vote on it to hear what the people want.

I certainly hope Walmart becomes a campaign issue for Andre Quintero next year.

We don't live under a dictator yet!

I think this is a waste of tax payer dollars. How has the community allowed for this to move forward.
