Here's what the article didn't tell you about Costco -- thanks to a deal made by the County Council's real estate genius, Chris Robinson, their sales and property taxes won't go to the county. Read the legislation. A state agency called MIDA collects the taxes and will use the money to operate the Air Force hotel at below-market rates.

Robinson is up for re-election this year, I'm voting for the other candidate.

Sucks to be the 7-11 gas station by Home Depot, with a costco fuel station, they will have to start selling their fuel for normal prices instead of the absolute rip-off prices they are now.

I hope that Costco sales tax goes to support a hotel for the military. They deserve it.

"Pays Taxes", you are a real piece of work. The Military Installation Development Authority uses its tax revenues to support the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Chris Robinson has no control over state agencies, and if the property is used in support of facilities for the Air Force, then its income should be as well. I don't think Chris Robinson needs or wants your vote. You are a creep.

Park City should get a Costco. Then the Silly Market can move into the Costco parking lot as its permanent location. Same caliber of crap!
Would never happen though because Costco wouldn't pay silly market to be there, they'd want to charge them. That's why the SM wound up back on Main Street and not on private property such as Canyons, PCMR, Deer Valley Redstone, or Newpark. Only a government would be stupid enough to PAY a business to operate, instead of expecting it to fund its own operations out of earnings.

Wow! Elitism isn't just for Seattle residents. Even Utah has its fair share. You go find another employer that pays $40,000+ a year plus benefits for cashiering. I thought with the focus on job creation, you all would be thrilled!

trader joes cant come to UT...they make most of their money off of wine sales...can't happen.

the flip side is at the AF, if they are designated a Fed property, they can sell wine. i truly wish TJ could come here.

It is a pretty good place to live, but a lot of it has to do with you. government is pretty socialist...they like to redistribute the wealth in many ways. most annoying are the 'affordable housing' projects that they use to reward friends...never mind there is no need given the current state of the real estate market. they also like to tax the bejesus out of those that don't live here to pay for some of the losers that do. low level corruption is rampant and the government seems to be a front for a small group of power brokers in town

lots and lots of drugs here, but no real push to get rid of them as it is a party town. probably would hurt tourism if police or feds got active in stopping the drug trade in town. kids have access from an early age from a variety of sources. most common is from the 'user' parents that have more money than god, but little interest in raising kids. 2nd source is from our latino community that is the source of most of the drugs being brought in.

we are drowning in illegals. cheap labor, but hugely detrimental to our schools and general welfare because they have no interest in integration.

that said, it'll beat the hell out of Illinois.
