This card IS a rip-off! If you read the card BEFORE putting money on it and whatever, you will notice it COST money to put money on it.. The only way to avoid that fee once you have that card is to cash your payroll check and directly put it on there.. Which you still are charged $3.00 dollars to cash. There also is a monthly fee to have this card. Why not just go to a bank.. and put your money there? Most banks are FREE..(National City for example is a GREAT bank.. just never get a credit card from them!)

Depending upon where you live,..some can not even open a bank account without perfect credit.
You as a wal-Mart employee, this card is free, when you buy it, you will be charged the $3.00, but it will be refunded to you.
Look into it a bit more, while I do not have it, I know some do and they have had no complaints.

Personally I like the card. Sure, it makes it easier for people who can't or don't want a credit card but the reason I really like it is, I can use it online and not have to worry about scammers and thieves. If your information gets stolen, you wont be out of everything you own. Also the money is already on the card, so there are no overdrafts or surprises at the end of the month. Companies can't make mistakes and double charge you or try to bill you each month for something you don't want. Therefore you don't have to worry about bank holding. Working at a bank myself, I can say that these things happen to lots of people each and every day, mostly because they don't read the fine print or terms of conditions when they make a purchase. But still with the prepaid card there is none of these worries. It's simple: if the funds aren't there, you can't be charged. And to me, that's worth the 6 bucks.

People don't use it to buy from wal-mart. They use it online. So they can put the amount on the card and not worry about someone on the internet taking all their money out of their account. It's just a save way on not putting your information online. That's the only and main reason. Other then that. It would be stupid, or just not a smart idea. Why pay for a card, when cash is accepted.

This card is great for illegals or terrorists. The illegals can't open a bank account and the terrorists don't want to so they can go undetected.
that's nice giving people ideas....

Greedy? What are you a communist? Even if they had a bank in there no one would force anyone to use it.
communist? what are you goofy? wal-mart is the poster child for greed, amongst other things. however the one point you made in your post is that capitalism is in fact synonymous with greed. just please don't question the moral majority when we recognize a monster from a mile away, instead you should realize you are apparently unable to peer into something beyond its "smiley face" surface. maybe you're blinded by denial...or perhaps greed!?! your last name isn't walton by chance?

i think the wal-mart prepaid card is a great way to order online without worrying about identity theft or some company withdrawing more money than you authorized them too; all of you wal-mart bashers out there are nuts.....

Stupid idea, it doesn't count toward your credit score.
BECAUSE! If you don't have a bank account and some places of business (i.e., Weight Watchers) require a credit card, whether it is prepaid or otherwise. I do not want an unlimited credit card or a checking account. But sometimes I need a credit card for reference or whatever the case may be.

It makes sense if you are purchasing on-line....unless you like your credit card info being ripped off from unsecure purchasing sites.

having a prepaid VISA card is a great idea. You will be able to order things on line and go use it in many other stores.
and its good for people who cant get credit cards becuase of the charges they charge you for useing it.
Its better and safer then running around with loose change or cash in your pockets.

Weeeeeeellllllllllllllllllll.. ... what I've experienced is that a purchase on the internet with a credit card sometimes causes a SECOND charge later on..... ie., one I didn't make!!! With a prepaid card, I can limit my card's online exposure. Maybe.... I think that's a good thing. And I have other credit cards...

I really like the idea of Walmart having a pre-paid card , in which you could re-load . especiallly if you live near one. every year i am having to guess what to give people for presents. this gift card resolves that problem. also speaking about money. when traveling , or over unsecured networks. this card mite give me peace of mind.

This prepaid card is crap! I have my son who is in Louisville Ky all this week and has tried to withdrawl money out it several times. The only thing the card has gotten him is a Wendy's meal. I called Visa to complain that I have a child 300 miles or whatever away (We're from northern Illinois). They said that the temporary cards can't be used at the ATM. I said that this wasn't on the card, if I knew I would of never gotten him the card. She said it's in the terms and conditions. I said it would be nice to know BEFORE you buy the damn card! Then they told me to have him make a purchase and request cash back. STILL DOESN'T WORK! What the hell! I called the local Walmart here and she said that he should use debit. So HOPEFULLY he can do this at a Louisville KY Walmart.I pray that my son doesn't need cash to get home. At least he's got a plane ticket and if there are issues there, looks like a road trip to Louisville. If that becomes the case then this won't be over with Visa.
