I rarely go to Walmart, but I remember seeing while waiting on their long endless lines to check out, that most of the people paying use cash.

Prepaid? You have to pay with cash to put dollars on it to use it as a credit card, so why not pay cash?

Stupid idea, it doesn't count toward your credit score.

Greedy? What are you a communist? Even if they had a bank in there no one would force anyone to use it.

I really don't understand the reson for having a pre-paid card either. Unless it acts as a bank for the cardholder. That must be the only reason someone would do it is if they didn't have a bank account anywhere. The card acts as a safe place to have the money sitting. If it's a Visa, then it can be used anywhere, not just wally world.

It's so you can give the card as a gift instead of just giving someone cash.

At least they can use it anywhere you can use VISA.

That's pretty funny.

You can get prepaid bankcards at any bank and you can get prepaid American Express cards as well. Why would you get one that said Walmart for a gift. If it was a Walmart gift card I could understand but who wants a Walmart Visa card.

Buying prepaid VISA cards or prepaid debit cards without identifying the buyer is one good way to launder money.

So now Walmart is in the money laundering business as well.

They must be expanding.

So not only does Walmart bully its way into your neighborhoods, it's now in the money laundering business.

I always hated Walmart. They are nothing but a big box wh*re dirtying up good neighborhoods.

So you don't like WM. Hey, not everyone loves Microsoft either. But business is business and in this world, the fittest business company survives. Where I work, the guy who sits next to me gets paid the same as I, yet my output is lot more than him. Come performance evaluation time, I know that mine will be better than his so he eventually will lose his job. Is that fair? BTW, I don't work for WM.

great for privacy all good things can be used for bad, this is a great way for parents to pay their children and purchases to remain private , great way to purchase online and protect against identity theft, its reloadable and the cheapest fees avaialable as of today.
I wonder if banks in Venezuela sell you back your money at a $1.50-$2.50 a pop or better yet charge you 10$ a month to lend THEM money!

This is a perfect way to give my kids their $7.50/wk allowance! I was doing just store cards for Walmart, Target, etc, but now she can use this at a gas station if she wants an ice cream bar! I will be checking into this further.

Here in Atlanta, they are opening a Walmart community. Walton Park At Brookhaven are 220 units of apartments and condos (leasing by Walmart), a gym, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. with a Sam's Club and Sammy's Deli in the central square. Residents and their family members get a free membership to the Sam's Club.

Oooh. Is free membership worth dealing with the people who shop there milling about in the neighborhood, though?

I see nothing wrong with Wal-mart having a prepaid VISA card- they are just wanting to be like all the other big companies. I have a prepaid mastercard from DishNetwork and i love it. I can put as much as $1000 on it. This way i dont carry around a bunch of cash and if it ever gets stolen it will be repalced with my money. No one else can use it unless they have my PIN number.

why do you bash walmart so bad? The prepaid credit card is an excellent idea. Many people who cant get a bank account will be able to pay bills and order goods online with their new credit card and assuming it requires a pin number their money will basicly be in a bank protected from loss or theft.

This card is great for illegals or terrorists. The illegals can't open a bank account and the terrorists don't want to so they can go undetected.
