Va Tech's Beamer to honor Marshall crash victims

Sep 23, 2011 Full story: NBC29 7

A few hours before kickoff, Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer will take a detour to a cemetery in Huntington, W.Va., where he'll pay his respects at a memorial for the 75 Marshall players, coaches and others killed in a 1970 plane crash, the worst disaster in U.S. sports history.

This is meant to ease the pain of an upcomig 80 point blowout by VA Tech.

Nice photo op, Beamer. If there were sincere, it wouldn't have been publicized. Another tacky move by a tacky team.

I'm not one to gloat of give celebs or athletes any props, but one thing about "Good Ol' Frank Beamer" is that he enjoys coaching and loves VT. He could have left years ago and still could today for a lot more money, but he's dedicated to his school's program and compared to Sabin and a few other coaches he isn't making anywhere near as much as them. So really for him to come in and at least pay his respects let's not hound the man or his team. Even if it was just a photo opp. How many times has ECU done that and that's who beat us on that day...

Actually, every time we play ECU at their stadium they do honor the victims. ECU is another class act for sure. Some teams could learn a few things from them.

I did not know that but thank you for pointing that out, and I retract what I said about ECU then.
