I'm thinking we should substitute cats for the foxes. Foxes at least serve a purpose.

This is a mis lead truth, there are no coyotes in Va Pens and also the dogs are not judged on who kills the fox first. That is how dumb bills get passed because people use video from other states and put a statement out that is a lie. Another thing the people that are againts these fox pens are the same people who don't want a hound in the yard so they take the collars off and call the SPCA. Animal lovers they call themselves. Oh and by the way, the next time you let your yorkie out and he vanishes it may have been that Coyote your protecting.

I will not comment on the fox penning, but i am one of the people who are tired of hunter's dropping their dogs off and running them thru my property.Have had this problem for over the past 5 to 6 years. And every year at the end of hunting season there are always hounds left to fend for themselves as these so-called hunters don't want to care for them until next season.

Yes, that is indeed a coyote, a dead coyote, in the video clip. NOT in a pen, but out in some woods.

Does it make you wonder what else they got wrong in pushing this flawed legislation?

Maybe our delegates should focus on issues important to Virginia?

Sick- looks strikingly similar to dog fighting to me. 31 out of 41 of these pens were temporarily shut down due to violations, and pen operators are not speaking. Anyone that can watch this and think this is acceptable frightens me.

Fox pens are fenced acres of land- so of course there can be coyotes in them, and other animals. The foxes are trapped by trappers, and because you can't sell wildlife, the trappers are "reimbursed" for their fees.

I am disgusted by this area and finding starving, flea and tick-ridden hounds disposed of at the taxpayers' expense. Most are heartworm positive and in extremely poor shape. The county pound wouldn't even exist in the area I help if it weren't for hunters' dogs. Accountabilty, responsibility and compassion in VA?

There is only so much that can be done in 60 days. It will just have to wait for the light bulb and that embryo is a person bill.

I fox hunt but this tactic seems over-the-top cruel, and we have to draw the line somewhere.

I also have to concur with others that some people who hunt with hounds are making are creating an extremely bad image for all hunters because of the way they neglect and often purposfully discard their animals at the end of the season. I get several emaciated, terrified hounds on my property every year. I always call if there is a number or micro-chip. Sometimes the dogs cower and shake when the owner comes to get them, sometimes the owners hang up the phone and never come get their dogs. More often, though, the dogs don't even have collars, and its the end of the season. Pretty shameful.

Here's an idea... buy dogs from China (where they are used for food) and dress them up as foxes and use them. Real foxes are expensive!
