Unfortunately the article is probably referring to Islamic extremists holding a check post and that would be the Shria law coming through. I never understood that crap with the covering of the head and feet.

I worked with a girl from Iran except she would never let anyone call her Iranian, it is Persian. She had family pictures before and after the Sharia law came into affect and it was almost comical but her parents stayed in Iran but her 2 sisters moved with her to Canada and have never been back but her parents come to Canada to visit. She say she loves Iran setting as it is very pretty but does not trust the government and their spies.

Pakistan and S. Arabia are so-called allies of the U.S. Are you trying to suggest that, since the U.S. has two allies that prescribe death for blasphemy and Syria only one, that we're twice as bad as Syria?

Or do you just mindlessly blurt out whatever article you come across without bothering to understand its implications? LOL

You jump all over the place on here with your pretentious names and try to intimidate people when all you are doing is trying to entertain yourself. Avenger is not implying that the US is in no way bad at all, that is your summation so live with it.

Well, let's analyze his post, for fun and profit.

The gist of his post was that Syria has an ally in Iran, a country that has the death penalty for blasphemy and so Syria is very bad.

Am I correct so far?

By analogy then, since S. Arabia and Pakistan also have such laws on the books and since they are allies of the U.S., then the U.S. must be very, very bad.

It's a simple extrapolation of the logic of his post, which was flawed to begin with. Therefore, the extrapolation itself is flawed but as valid as the original flaw. Apparently you have a difficult time with my posts. Short of your googling the phrase "reductio ad absurdum), may I offer this advise?

Do not fight mathematical rigor. It's a losing battle.

And BTW, NO - I am NOT here to amuse myself. I'm here to draw attention to the flawed western policy of playing the useful idiots to a movement by the gulf states to bring a strict Sunni extremist movement to power in Syria. As has been said before, Assad is to my mind as well, the lesser of two evils and his government is certainly more amenable to reform at this juncture than the extremist elements that have hijacked this revolution. There are obviously western elements that prefer furthering chaos in Syria as a way to accomplish their long-term goals. I, on the other hand, see their long-term goals as extremely short sighted and ultimately doomed to failure.

IF he had said Iran was very BAD, we might have a different conversation, however, he did NOT.

What was his implication then? Or did he even have one?

Does one say: "Here is a country that carries the death penalty for blasphemy." and not expect that the reader will assume that such a thing is bad? I certainly do.

What then was the point of his post? I'm all ears.

Unfortunately, George - you're far too literal, far too black and white for this world of ours.

The world of cowboys with white and black hats ended with Roy Rogers. We live in the world of Clint Eastwood these days.
