President Bashar al-Assad's forces bombarded the southeast of Damascus with air strikes and artillery on Wednesday to try and dislodge rebel fighters who have gained a foothold in the Syrian capital, opposition activists said.

That is only what the Syrian military can do, artillery bombing and air attack. They are afraid in engaging ground face to face combat, because they know they will be slaughtered. Cowards will always be cowards.

I don,t understand how the world Can let this happen,,,??how many children are cilled in this war..the rebels have To kill children too Assad people or Else the syrian solders Will never stop.. the rebels are going in the profets footsteps.. Don,t kill children and women,, if i were they,, i would do the same...

I don t think its that simple. The casualty list would contradict your proposition. Do the rebels have more guts. Id say yes. Id sure would nt want to tangle with regular troops, artillery, and close air support. But armies really dont like to shoot at their own population so as much as it appears tawdry and dirty the continued fighting says something about the respective sides. This isnt a fight about bashar. This is a deeper fight about the future of syria. And this struggle is only getting more intense and savage. This is not rwanda but the intensity is burning bright. There something going on that we westerners do not feel. Most tin plate dictators would already have been murdered by now. But this struggle just feeds on itself. This thg will with or without asd go on

I don't understand how people could encourage, support, and arm terrorists, especially those linked to AlQaeda.
