Global Warming Links Democrats, Independents Isolating Romney

Sep 30, 2012 Full story: The Washington Post 6

Democrats and independent voters overwhelmingly accept the scientific evidence that human activity is warming the earth's temperature, while almost two out of three Republicans don't. Among likely voters, 78 percent of Democrats and 56 percent of independents believe humans are warming the earth, according to a Bloomberg National Poll.

It's also important to note that while the arctic ice caps are at approaching record low levels, the antarctic ice, which accounts for about 90 percent of the worlds ice total, has been constantly expanding. Now, had I a guess, I'd saw that global warming is more myth then anything. The problem with the arctic ice loss probably has much more to do with Russia's fleet of ice-breakers. They break the ice up and make chunks of ice more vulnerable to drifting into warmer waters and melting. Not sure whether or not greenhouse gases really effect the climate in the long term, but it seems to me that it's impact gets really exaggerated in the media.

If the greenhouse effect was a universal truth, then it would affect both poles, not just the north one, and that's not the case. Anyway, every summer, ice does break off and melt in Antarctica, and every winter the ice expands, and every year on record from the NSIDC (National Snow and Ice Data Center) the antarctic ice has expanded more each winter then it's shrunk in the summer.

Also, the vast majority of scientists are skeptical of the whole greenhouse effect and global warming thing, for the reasons I mentioned, but the mainstream media favors the pro-global warning crowd, so they get more attention. The greenhouse effect/global warming remains an unproven theory.

If you care about the arctic ice, petition to have Russia stop breaking the ice apart. That is a far more logical cause to the shrinking ice then a 'greenhouse effect' which only seems to effect the Northern ice and not the far larger southern ice.

Now, if 78% of democrats are stupid enough to listen to the media's slanted reporting of the agenda that is global warming, then that says a lot about their irrationality. Look at all the evidence, as I've put forth.

Spread it quick, before your myth is found to be wrong..... oh, too late!

Another re-pubic-lick-un who is a cold ass jerk.'jerkcoldass' has no brain.

AGW, in 2002 & confirmed in 2005, that Antarctic sea ice would increase. Of course,'jerkcoldass' helps prove, that the AGW prediction came true.

In the last decade of the 20th century, democrats & re-pubic-lick-uns were fairly close on the issue of AGW. The the oil, energy & coal industries dumped lots of money & false science into conservative & re-pubic-lick-un TV, radio & internet media. re-pubic-lick-uns dramatically veered from democrats on the issue. re-pubic-lick-uns had no background in science or mathematics to understand the brainwashing they got soaped-up with.....'jerkcoldass' included.

You are the one being brainwashed. Not me. It's a theory and there's insufficient evidence for it to be more then that. The fact of the matter is that the planet goes through heating and cooling cycles and it's not always the fault of humans. Are you also going to say that humans caused every ice age that has ever happened on the planet? Are humans also to blame for continental drift and the breaking apart of the super-continent Pangaea?

Anyway, I acknowledge that the arctic ice is melting at an alarming rate, but there are other possibilities beyond the greenhouse effect. Russia does have an entire fleet of ships meant to break apart the arctic ice, which would make the smaller chunks more vulnerable to melting. Also the world could be going through a natural warming period. Anyway, if global warming were solely to blame, we would expect the antarctic ice to be following a similar trend, but it's not doing that, it's growing larger, not shrinking.

Meaningless and inaccurate drivel.

First off, it is the arctic and antarctic SEA ICE.

The 'ice caps' are Greenland, the Western Antarctic Ice Sheet and Eastern Antarctic ice sheet. All of those are declining but with so much mass, they have a long way to go.

OTOH, sea ice is relevant ONLY in the summer minimum (stable in the Antarctic, declining rapidly in the Arctic), since it only affects climate during the 6 month summer 'day'. The amount of ice frozen where the light doesn't shine is immaterial.

Note also, that the SLIGHT increase in antarctic maximum extent is DESPITE the warming of the region, not because of it. The reason seems to have to do with a stratification of less saline water which freezes slightly easier.

Arctic sea ice, either by satellite or submarine data, is above the 2007 and 2011 Arctic sea ice extent AND, a month later than 'normal', the sea ice average for the decades of 2000's, AND THE 1990's, at 8,248,281 km2 (November 8, 2012), the day's gain, small New Jersey-sized. with average temperatures above the 80th parallel rising to -18 degC. The sun has been unseen from the North Pole for 7+ weeks, temperatures on landforms surrounding the Arctic Ocean, as low as -22 to -25degC!

Arctic Ocean warmth is & will continue to keep Arctic sea ice thinner through the coming winter & even spring. As of October 2, Arctic sea ice VOLUME is ~23% lower than any satellite recorded year AND indications of submarine-detected Arctic sea ice yearly VOLUME.

Presently, Arctic sea ice extent is above 2007 AND 2011, the average minimum Arctic sea ice extent for the 2000's, the 1990's, & now the 1980's, at 8,323,438 km2 (November 9, 2012), the day's gain somewhat under the size of S.Calolina. Indeed, Arctic Ice Pack area, tho colder than normal for 3 weeks, beginning a month ago, is lower than the years, 2007, 2008 & 2011 for the same dates. Present temperatures on landforms surrounding the Arctic Ocean, have numerous areas into minus teen digits. Many northern AND some southern Canadian islands & Alaska have temperatures beyond the minus teens, with numerous lows near -25degC! Due to solar heats absorbed into the shallow waters of Hudson Bay, despite many sporadic temperatures in the area of minus teen degC, the Bay still has NOT ICED. Siberian temperatures are in the lower minus teens, with -21degC, the lowest.

The vast open Arctic waters north of Siberia have been covered by Arctic Ice Pack. The huge sea ice floes that strongly developed in the vast clear waters north of Siberia(due to broad double digit minus Siberian temps spilled from North Pole's 7 weeks of darkness & vortex mixing breaking down stratified solar heated waters?), have done their job AND connected the Ice Pack to the entire Siberian coastline, truly a remarkable development!

However, Franz Joseph Land & Svalbard, in winter darkness 24/7, are still clear of the Ice Pack!!!!!!!!!! A circular vortex just formed north of the line connecting both sets of islands. Wonder if the Ice Pack may expand in this area?
The vortex has quickly moved over towards the east coast of Greenland & may or may not assist the south moving flow of Arctic cold water.

A detail noted 26 days ago is a raggy taggy developing edge along a part of the semi-circle, possibly NOT coincidental with the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS (plus?) OF SQUARE KILOMETERS, of waters north of Alaska & Siberia that are VASTLY CLEAR. Might the raggy taggy edge indicate huge turbulence & currents in this largest(ever?) ice free, & resulting southerly-directed heat stratified Arctic waters? I wonder if there might develop more raggy taggy edging, enough to form a swirl pattern?
Twenty five days ago, noted near the raggy taggy ice pack, developed 3 tiny pixel ice floes(arced?), separated from the Arctic ice pack toward southerly directions. Twenty four days ago, the number of ice floes increased to 8 & indeed they formed an ARC. Pretty sure they represent a large scale vortex in open Arctic water!
Further data, showed that the vortex was true!

Downwelling solar heats, in unusual clear Arctic Ocean & seas, normally sea ice covered in decades past, which have strongly transported extra solar energy to continental shelf, sea & Ocean depths for 4 months, is over. The sun is unseen anywhere above the 74th parallel, now shrouding the Arctic with darkness for a good portion of the year! The northern parts of the Northwest Passage are in darkness 24/7. Only Alaskan, far north European, & far western Russian southern Arctic seas get a skimming from the sun for only a bit of the day, which is visually only a hand full of solar diameters off the horizon, at most!
