Really?!!! I was born in America! It would take me all of less than 24 hrs to prove it!!! Really seconds, because I have a copy of my birth certificate, but if I had to contact the state I was born in, it would be no problema to get a certifide copy.
I believe what we have here is a mexican playing games to say that he was profiled. I bet he wasn't that cooperative in proving that we was a citizen! This stinks! It also stinks that AMERICAN civil liberties is all over it!$$$
His take home message is, don't mess with illegal aliens because you may make a mistake...worth it, though!!!!

He would have been a red flag case if for example he was really born here, he would have appeared to become Americanized. We don't know details but what do you bet, he's carrying false ID and never was expected to produce a trail. The Birth Certificates, Green Cards, DL's, and numerous fake Doc's found in Utah a week ago, appeared completely legitimate. The Social Security Cards etc. were impossible to distinguish between legal and non legal. They looked the same. This trash will figure out how to ruin our Country every chance they get, including unwarranted lawsuit's. This garbage is destroying our Country. We have been demoralized, and invaded by millions of strangers that don't follow the same rules we grew up with. We cannot defend this Country when Lib's and Socialist's run this Country.

If a person is arrested, the police should ask him habla ud. espanol? If the POS says yes, deport him. If he is an American citizen, chances are good he already is a traitorous supporter of wet backs and deserves to be deported.

I don't think many of you realize the undocumented immigrant is here to stay. We provide the labor and are the back bone of the US.

I live in ohio, my mother was born in IL. Years ago the records facility there burned down. It is a nightmare for her to try to get new records since then and this has been going on for decades. It is not always a nice cut and dry scenario.

And i love how you make a determination about this guy with nothing but your own opinions without any information to back that up. Classic sign of ignorance.

The only thing that stinks is your attitude of superiority towards this man when you know nothing about him. You can't even get his nationality correct by calling him Mexican instead of Dominican. But that's to be expected from an uneducated pos like you. He is as much as an American as you and I. Your ancestors where in his shoes not to long ago. No different. Except that they were not racially profiled as illegal aliens.
He should win his lawsuits against everyone he filed one against and move his whole family here so they can get American citizenship the legal way just like he did.

Speaking of an uneducated POS, you ought not be bashing someone else for not getting the man's heritage, not nationality, correct when you can't do it yourself.

He's Puerto Rican descent, born in New Jersey. Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens for nearly 100 years.

The moral of this story is if you don't want to be caught up in an ICE raid, don't hang out with illegals.

I didn't read the article and was thinking of another csse out of Washington Heights. The real moral of the story is that the United States Government on the local, state, and federal level will not continue to disregard these American Citizens rights with out receiving and losing heavy lawsuits.

You're so full of sheeeet! They aren't "undocumented" they are illegal aliens here in violation of our immigration laws. And no they aren't here to stay. We loyal, lawabiding Americans will see to that so pack your bags, amigo!

Who do you think were doing the jobs that illegal aliens are holding now before they arrived here? Backbone of the U.S.? Don't make me laugh they are killing wages in this country and taking a lot more out of our tax coffers than they ever pay in. Why don't you and your cowardly amigos go back to your own countries and fix them?

Illegally detained? I don't think so! LE have to follow a certain criteria to detain someone. And no he wasn't detained just because he was a Latino. Take your victim mentality card and shove it where the sun don't shine!

If you are going to comment on a post regarding the article, in effect trashing someone that did read the article, you are:
1.) displaying your ignorance for all to see
2.) trashing what little credibility you might have had
3.) you need to understand the concept of 'you are known by the company you keep.'

As I posted earlier... if you are going to hang with criminals, you have to expect to get caught up in the dragnet. If you are too stupid to carry ID then you must expect to be detained.

Personally, I carry 2 forms of ID that you can't get without proving you are a citizen. But then, I live in a conservative state where you must provide proof of citizenship in order to get a driver's license and a concealed carry permit.

The real moral to this story is that the ACLU will shop for any excuse to glean taxpayer dollars, whether or not there is any real basis in fact for their suits. They get paid either way.

You can buy the IDs out of trunks of cars in most major cities.

He got caught up in a drug sweep.

You are known by the company you keep.

When his credentials were verified he was let go.

He got off easy and like so many others, is profiting at taxpayer expense. As fas as I am concerned, he is no better than any other person sucking the government teat. But then, that is the meat and potatoes for the ACLU, isn't it?

LOVE the way you flipped me off! This happened YEARS ago with mom, and she hasn't been able to get them to issue anything as a substitute? No affidavits?!!!

That said, the bottom line is that there are MANY Americans who are later proven innocent and are held in jail LONGER than 3 days!!! He's looking for a pay check!

"...win his lawsuits..." Just as I thought!!! Here we have a mexican/dominican, who is an anchor, and wants to make book. There are many Americans who are held in prison for longer than 3 days, under suspicion...why should someone who comes from a family who never assimilated be treated any different? Remember, he is American in every way, right?!!! Well, being picked up under suspicion and held is part of the American way, why should he be any different? Suck it up!

and they to are usually successful with the lawsuits that they file if they were illegally held.
