To read the American media, including those in Chicago, one would never know that Iraqi schools and universities are operating, that businesses are open, that cars are on the roads, that sports teams are playing, that recreational programs are being carried out such as the 5k run over the weekend, that there are at least 35 newspapers publishing, that there are countless radio stations, that TV stations are on the air, that oil production is in high gear, that farmers are actually raising food, that people actually go out to eat in restaurants and attend entertainment programs...and the list goes on. If it doesn't explode, it seems that it's not worthy to report that normal life has been restored in large measure throughout Iraq, especially in the smaller cities but also in Baghdad. The Iraq newspapers are on line. If the American reporters won't venture outside the Green Zone, they could at least report on what is being priinted in the Iraq papers. Is there still danger? Sure. But the same could be said for certain neighborhoods in Chicago. Just look at today's Metro Section in the Trib.

Those in the media who ridicule the "if it bleeds, it leads" mantra of TV news need to look in the mirror and ask if they are promoting that which they hold in disdain. Just report the news...all of it, not just the "bleeding" or whatever fits the agenda of the day.

Be warned, most of the american media is on a mission, they have an agenda, it's not accidental that they are covering up the truths, same as it's not accidental that they will not report corruption among the democrats as they do about republicans even when it isnt truth.

I agree, most of the media only cover what they want you to see, and that is usually all negative news reporting, they never cover anything good that is happening.
