I am just posting a couple clips from the article as the board would not let me post it in its entirety.

The girl fell pregnant aged 11 after having sex with a 15-year-old on a drunken night out with friends in Edinburgh last August. He has been charged with statutory rape.

The girl today told a national newspaper how she was "really excited" to be having a baby. Her mother said she was "proud" of her daughter.

In an interview with The Scottish Sun, the girl, who smokes up to 20 roll-up cigarettes a day and started drinking aged ten, said she hoped the baby would be a boy.

She said: "I am really excited and looking forward to being a mum. I can't wait to take the baby swimming and out for walks in the pram.

The girl told how she feared she might be pregnant after having unprotected sex with the boy after a drunken night out with friends in Edinburgh last August. "We didn't use a condom but I didn't think about getting pregnant. I wasn't bothered at the time," she continued. "He knew it was my first time and I was nervous so he asked if I was all right.

"I slept with him because I was drunk and because I wanted to. I don't regret it, because if I had not had sex with him I wouldn't have had my baby."

The West Lothian girl's mother, who has not been named, told the newspaper: "She's grown up a lot in the last few months and her pregnancy has brought us closer together. At first I wasn't too happy about becoming a gran but now I'm used to the idea I'm really looking forward to having another girl around the house.

"My daughter is already like a mum to her little brothers, so she knows how hard this is going to be. I know she'll give motherhood a good try - and she knows I'll be here for her if she needs help.

"We had a big argument and I ended up locking myself in my room and then running away to a friend's house. It was really hard, but it has brought me and my mum closer together, which is good. "At the weekend, mum and I are going shopping to get stuff for the baby.

She said she began smoking when she was nine years old and started drinking just a year later.

She said: "I can give up smoking at any time, but I don't find it affects my pregnancy. I also don't drink any more."

The eight months pregnant mum-to-be is reported to have quit school following a string of exclusions for fighting with fellow pupils.

This is a baby, not a puppy. "Give it a good try??"

The poor baby is DOOMED.

Where were the parents when their 9 year old was smoking and then drinking at 10???

I think there needs to be an investigation into the entire FAMILY.

GOD! that's exactly what I thought. "give it a good try?" then what if her good try isn't good enough... put it in a box with "free to good home"?

gah! and why is she like a mom to her 3 little brothers at 11? why is SHE taking care of them instead of her mum? WHY is she proud her 11 year old daughter is pregnant? WHY is she still smoking if she can quit at anytime... WHY is he in jail for statutory rape?*I mean in all honesty... they were both drunk, she wanted to... besides the fact they're both underage... so uh... WHY? Why is there this many things I can point out that I have a problem with in less than one minute?

Clearly there is something seriously wrong in this home. But with the attention that the 12 year old got by getting pregnancy, it got child services in their area involved and now most of the children have been put in foster care or up for adoption, including the "new baby".

Clearly.... when a mother is happy that she is going to be a gram because her 12 year old daughter got prego....something is wrong....damn very sad ...
Hopefully the foster care system will have more to offer the children in this case....

I have a friend that had a baby boy at 15. He got a girl pregnant when he just turned 16, and had his girlfriend decided to keep the baby (abortion- she didn't), she would have been a grand-ma at 31. This happened a couple of months ago.

Her kid was crushed.(broken condom) He was raised pro-life.

I have no idea why I just typed that.

What a sad story of parental neglect on so many counts. I suspect unless someone intervenes that this baby's baby will be a parent by 13 or so as well. Her doctors are either idiots as well if she believes that about smoking or she's just plain too mentally deficient to understand.

This is all rubbish.... Better give your baby to someone who is childless and do not repeat ur mistake. and obviously do something productive, making ur career and stop producing kids.

i dont have any kids at the time but that just goes to show that if you did get pregnant no one would ever know because you'll run to the health
department to kill your child. no im not saying its right to have a child at a really young age but you knew what the result of sex could lead to. just because you havent got traped into that situation doesnt mean that it could not have happened to you unless you were not having sex at that age. and how can you say that you would never do that stuff no one really knows what they would do until it comes down to it, but we all know what you'll run out and do if you were to get pregnant at that age(kill it).

You need to accept that there is a world outside your limits. "Mum" is a common name for a mother in Great Britain.

Tell you what, you learn to spell "your" and we'll listen to your great wisdom. We are talking about a pregnant 12 year old here, and that means the "mistake" is someone sexually preying on a child.
