Abortion clinic decides to settle out of court

“It's cheaper to settle with these people than to pay for the litigation. It doesn't tie the doctor up in a trial”

Daniel and Angela Michael, who operate Small Victories, an anti-abortion organization in Highland, were awarded a settlement Thursday from The Hope Clinic for Women in Granite City.

The settlement followed a mediation conference presided over by Madison County Circuit Judge David Hylla.

The undisclosed amount was awarded as a result of a lawsuit the Michael family brought against Hope Clinic alleging assault in two separate incidents.

Daniel Michael said that his then 9-year-old daughter, Arielle, was pushed to the ground by a Hope Clinic escort in November 2000 while Arielle was attempting to pass out pamphlets to patients entering the clinic. Arielle, who is now 17, received a head injury but did not require hospitalization, according to Michael. Read more

Are Daniel an Angela Michael using their not for profit donated money to pay the lawyers fees in this case? I wonder if the award money is then deposited in the same not for profit account if that is where they obtained the money to pay for the lawyer expenses. Just a thought.

The attorney's fees are being paid by the Thomas More Society. Thomas Brejcha is her lawyer.

In other words they are getting free legal help.

Mrs. Michael has been using (sorry) represented by The TMS since she was sued in 2001 for taking part in posting a patient's medical records on the internet. This was after her lawyer quit and another was fired by the Michaels.

She attempted to claim that she had the patient's permission to do so, but it bacame obvious in the depositions that the patient wanting nothing to do with Angela Michael.

The worst part of it is, that Mrs. Michael's daughter had to be injured in this. Yet she is the first person to condemn any other person who brings their children to a pro life meeting or event.

My question is, How does a person with a job as a waiter have the money to buy 3 new vehicles in one year's time for his family and two of his children and still be able ti have the money to feed and clother 13 people,(Him & his wife and 11 kids) without taking a salary form their "ministry"????

Interesting isn't it??

What kind of idiots have their 9 year old child handing out pamphlets to grown women, in a setting where they are purposely stirring up emotions? Sounds like CPS should have checked them out

Zealots care more about their cause than their children apparently.(That's kind of a "duh" statement, isn't it?)

Thank goodness that the majority of people voted FOR the ERA

But, why is a 9 year old doing at an abortiuon clinic handing out pamphlets? Do parents no longer want their children to learn to make their own decions when it is time? And not only about abortion-but in many avenues of life a child must have her own roots to set down and grow.

I know, I've seen you all there when I worked at a facility in Ohio. There were few children, thank God in Heaven!

Yeh, it is a "duh" comment, AK. When we used to defend the clinic in St Pete from an OR offensive, it was shocking to see the (real) babies being wheeled around in the broiling FL heat, faces red & sweaty, no water available, all by the good Xtians....

One would hope that these people would know better, but human nature being what it is, they don't. Same with the Phelps cult. They have their small children stomping on flags, and holding signs which say 'Thank God for IEDs' at the funerals of soldiers. One of these days, some mourner is going to be provoked into an attack. Of course, the Phelps clan would love that, they're all lawyers who are just champing at the bit to sue someone. However, they should realize that their kids may be injured, and who's fault would that ultimately be? They'll really have no one to blame but themselves. Same with the anti-choicers who take their kids to protest. It's shameful, them using their kids that way, and possibly endangering them, all the while pretending to care about children.

You are such a hypocrite!!!

First, who’s to say that the 9 year old wasn't doing exactly what she wanted to do? Do you suppose she could share her parents concern for the life of the unborn? Do you have a problem with that? She may even think you are an idiot. Does she need your permission to think that you are an idiot?

Second, tell me you don't influence the actions of your children through your own attitudes, whatever evil ideas they may be about unborn babies? Unfortunately, you have that right in America.

Let's face it. You’re an intolerant hypocrite.

'It's cheaper to settle with these people than to pay for the litigation. It doesn't tie the doctor up in a trial,' Levy said.'Cases are commonly settled in every area of the law. It's not an indication of guilt.'

Yeh the more time the doc spends in court, the more blood money the clinic looses.

Of course. 9 years old. What child would not want to spend their time in front of an abortion clinic.

Susan: Want to go see a movie Sally?
Sally: "Hmm. We could do that, or... WE COULD GO TO THE ABORTION CLINIC!
Susan: EEEEEEE! You mean it? I could come too?
Sally: My mom said I could only bring 5 friends, so please don't tell anyone. You know how much everyone likes going to the abortion clinic.
Susan and Sally: ABORTION CLINIC HERE WE COME!

Later-
Susan: Thanks so much for bringing me along. Want to come over to my house and get some ice cream.
Sally: Well... We could do that, or... DO MY PARENTS TAXES!
SUSAN: EEEEEEEE!!

These people are completely loony tunes.

They love publicity, and people here give it to them even when their stories are completely false.

They bring their children to protest every week, now their older children have distanced themselves from their nutjob parents.

Their personal website is the most racist piece of trash that has graced the internet in the name of "life".

One thing that you should know about the Michaels- if you feel an ounce of compassion for them is this: Each year at the ST. Louis Komen Race for the Cure, a fundraiser for breast cancer treatment and research, the Michaels walk with a giant banner that states that there is a link between breast cancer and abortion. They BLAME the breast cancer survivors for their OWN ILLNESS!!!!
(despite medical facts to the contrary of course)

I've never seen them insulted or harrassed at the race, which just shows the grace and class of the STL community and breast cancer survivors. What they deserve is exactly the same harrassment they dish out each week, but most people are above that kind of garbage. Just not the Michaels.

They are truly evil and crazy folks. I have more Michaels stories if you are interested in how a nutjob brain works.
