Hmmmmm, when it comes to "their" money the CC is not afraid of a little hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy is the RCC's rightful name.

It's because they're immersed in it, too, Morgana.

Agree, but not recognizing the hypocrisy?? How can it be ignored? Maybe this will open some eyes?

This case is utterly disgusting. The RCC is just another Big Business that happen to peddle salvation to its customers.

It hasn't yet, that I've seen. Just see excuses. Like, "The hospital wasn't acting according to Catholic belief." Which is pure BS since pregnant woman and fetal twins died.

Some eyes, yes, but maybe not that many, certainly not in the Catholic Church hierarchy anyway.

I'm just glad I never had to accept "medical treatment" at any Catholic hospital. That is the LAST place I would voluntarily go.

The scary part, they have many hospitals and growing. Dangerous to women when they "intend" to treat women according to their doctrine and not according to objective medical standards.....which "Dan" used as a bolster his argument pertaining to the proposed "heartbeat law" but will shy away when the same terminology is used questioning catholic hospitals/doctors.

Morgana-

How is it "hypocritical" for their lawyers to use Colorado law in Colorado state court? Isn't that where the state law is applied?

That's what happened here.

"CHI has not argued in court documents that fetuses shouldn't be recognized as persons only that Colorado law does not."

So, you think that the fetus IS a person, or what? What's your argument here?

They're in a Colorado court-Colorado law dictates the case.

Law is trumping religion here-you should be turning cartwheels. What's your issue with this?

Read the article.

It would BE in their financial interest to argue themselves that the fetus isn't a person.

They aren't arguing that; their attorney is simply citing standing Colorado law.

Are you purposely missing the obvious? It's hypocritical of them to use the CO law to their advantage while consistently working to undermine that law and preaching the opposite.

What do you imagine they're saying behind closed doors? "If they'd allowed the personhood bill to go through, we'd willingly pay through the nose? It's their own fault!"

Katie, they're in court, in Colorado.

Their lawyers have to use Colorado law to argue court cases in Colorado.

I mean, what else would they use?

What I'm getting at is that the law in Colorado applies to them whether they agree with it or not.

If the suit was predicated on fetal personhood, it failed as Colorado law doesn't make that provision.

I don't understand why them actually citing state law makes the hospital the
villians here, unless you simply wanted them to lose this or any lawsuit brought against them.

And...? That's what this states -- the CO law

Again -- It's hypocritical of them to use the CO law to their advantage while consistently working to undermine that law and preaching the opposite.

What do you imagine they're [Catholic hosp and attorney(s)] saying behind closed doors? "If they'd allowed the personhood bill to go through, we'd willingly pay through the nose? It's their own fault!"
