Pregnant girl, 12, in baby plea
The pregnant schoolgirl who is about to become Britain's youngest mum is pleading with social work bosses to let her keep her baby, it has been reported.

The girl, who was aged just 11 when she became pregnant, fears the infant may be taken into care when it is born. It emerged on Friday that the girl, now aged 12, will become the country's youngest mum.

The West Lothian youngster, who has not been named, is due to give birth in a few weeks, breaking the record set by Jenny Teague, of Dorset, who had a baby aged 12 years and nine months in 1997.

But she told the Scottish Sun that social workers had warned her she may not be allowed to keep her baby.

The paper has reported that they told her the house she shares with her mother and five brothers and sisters may be too small, and needed decorating. Now she is hoping to get the chance to look after her child.

She told the newspaper: "I just need the chance to prove myself - I know I can be a good mum.

"I've been told by social workers there's a chance the baby won't come home with me from the hospital. They say our house is too small and needs redecorating.

"I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep my baby, I don't know how I'd cope if I lost it."

And she added: "I feel like I'm being picked on because of my age but I love kids and I think being a mum will come naturally. If they take my baby away from me and my family I'll end up really depressed."

The news that the youngster is to become the UK's youngest mum sparked outrage from the Catholic Church and also led to calls for better sex education.

If this were your daughter would tell her to keep the baby or should she have had an abortion? The Father of the baby is only 15. He was arrested and charged earlier this year.

Give her a chance to prove herself.. As society has shown, age education , financial status does not always make you a good parent. I would never ask one of my children to have an abortion. Under any circumstance.

And the father should be held responsible.

well, i do think she is really young, but i would give her a chance. here in the U.S.A., the kids are getting younger and younger and having babies, though i dont think they should become mothers at such a young age, but some can be good mothers.

and where is the father of this child about to be born, does she get any support from him, why is it ALWAYS just the mothers that get slandered, it took BOTH of them for her to get pregnant.

The Catholic Church has thrown a big fit over this case. I know the social workers will be involved in this case for a long time to come,if they allow this young girl to take the baby home.

If this were MY daughter Id fight tooth and nail to keep the baby! Whatever it took. Plus Id educate her in the fact that while she is wanting to have sex it isnt appropriate and it isnt going to happen again as long as she is MY minor child. Then Id keep up with her SO closely that she'd probably HATE me until she hit her early twenties and then after that she'd THANK me for being strict and stern with her. Sometimes you cant be your kids friends, sometimes you HAVE to be their PARENTS! Ive just found out that my 19 yr old son is visiting a 15 (soon to be 16 yr old girl!) He is VERY upset with me.(Not NEAR as upset as I with him!) because Ive forbid it. Its not gotten sexual and he says her mom knows his age...BUT as long as he is under MY rood -there will be NONE of that! I dont care of the POPE says its alright. He can hate me and think Im odd and backward if he wants! Later down the road he MIGHT discover that I saved his fool ass from JAIL! The idiot!

There is more to this story then you have read.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uklatest/story/0,,-...

A CHAIN-SMOKING schoolgirl told last night how she fell pregnant during a drunken romp at the age of just 11 The petite youngster found she was expecting after losing her virginity to a teenager during the boozy one-night stand Lighting her third roll-up cigarette and watched by her proud 34-year-old mum, she confessed:I didnt think Id get pregnant because it was my first time"

Here is another story.
http://icsurreyonline.icnetwork.co.uk/0100new...

THE teen mum who shocked Britain by becoming pregnant at 12-years-old is expecting her second child at just 15.

Amy Crowhurst had only recently started senior school when she fell pregnant after having sex with a 15-year-old Gambian boy.

She is too young to buy alcohol or a lottery ticket but she caresfor two-and-a-half-year-old Alfie and is preparing for her second child.

"I ran out of the room when I found out because I was so shocked," Amy tells Closer magazine. "But I didn't consider an abortion."

Amy, from Bewbush, says the second baby shares the same father as Alfie but she refuses to name the now 18-year-old.

The UK needs something changed. Its young women are getting out of hand with the binge drinking in pubs, getting pregnant at such young ages, kids thinking being on government benefits is good. The council will give them a free flat if they have kids.
I read all about abortion in the USA and wonder why there isn't a bigger problem with that here.

What Mum would let her 11 year old daughter go out party, drinking, smoking and having sex? Aren't 11 year olds suppost to be kids?
The Mum of this 12 year old is on benefits. She had her fourth baby 9 months a go. The 12 year old daughter had to babysit for her brothers.
I pity the child that is going to be born. While I do not agree with abortion. Adoption in some cases should be a option. Like this one.

Excellent point ... and this 34 yr. old mom should be glad she doesn't live here in the U.S. or the unborn baby's father isn't the only one who would be facing criminal charges! She could very well be looking at charges of child abuse, child neglect, child endangerment for starters ... and she would definitely be at risk for losing all of her children to the system - at least until she got her act together. Sad, sad story.

Ive become mixed up somehow. I am usually pretty clear and usually understand pretty clearly. TX if I misunderstood and jumped the gun calling you a name - I am VERY sorry. I am probably too emotional with worries in my own personal life to even BE posting opinions or convictions. Again - Im sorry guys.
Hey - I can admit when Im feeling "off" and I am feeling very off! I just watched that old Michael Douglas movie where he trips out for a day and ends up doing things he'd never dream of otherwise and at the end realizes that he was the bad guy. The cop has to shoot him . You know the movie? Ive seen it several times and never got it until today...lol. NO Im not thinking of going on a physcotic spree - just splurging on a Red Lobster dinner and drinks till my credit card is maxed....hahaha. Anyone ever feel that way? When you get on the subject of kids and mistakes that they make - that's my worry spot. My son has done SO WELL and now he's not thinking with his head.
The scenario with the little pregnant girl is a kicker . Its hard to believe a mom would allow such behavior. Its sickning . But I suppose alot of things in reality today are sicking

There is alot of stuff going on in the world today. This girl should still be a child, playing with dolls..not a real life baby. She seems to think being a mommy will come naturally. What about when this little one cries all night? Does this girl know that second hand cigarette smoke kills? Maybe the child would be better off to be put up for adoption.
