G, if these same girls went into a religious place for counseling (Catholic Family Services comes to mind) they would be persuaded ("guided") to remain pregnant based on religious dogma. It's no different except that one suits the fundies here and one doesn't.
No doubt they would, but why are they even given a choice?
Don't. You think, if abortion was not legal, that most young girls and guys would think twice before having sex?
In this day and age, even if abortion was outlawed, teens would still be able to find a person to help them have an abortion, just like pot is illegal in most places, no one I. Know that smokes it has any problems getting it. After all these years of it being legal, then it wouldn't. Go back to clothes hangers.
J say since so many pregnancies don't. Make it all the way, why not either leave it in Gods hands, or the hands of natural selection?
I don't. Think 15-16 yo girls should be having babies, but I. Also don't. Think they should be living a lifestyle that lead to them becomming pregnant.

IMO

Had abortion never become legal ..more men and definitely more women would use birth control.

It's not as sure as abstinence..But it sure does, stop pregnancies if properly used

Legal terms and life terms are different.
I knew a lady who was full term, and even alittle overdue, who's. Baby died 30 mins. Before birth. She had a funeral and named the child. The baby looked like a little perfect doll. There is a difference in what happened here, and a lady having a miscarry,, at 5 weeks along. By law it is called a child if it takes one breath after birth, then dies. The child can be given a ss number, and used on taxes for the entire year if it takes one breath, but if not they can label whatever they wish, but anyone who seen the pics of the baby would only say one thing, and that's. "What a beautiful baby " -not stillborn, fetus, or neonatal.

Yes, no doubt.
Just like if it was legal to drink and drive, do you feel the number of drinking and driving would go up?

I was countering another poster's argument.

Religion, or faith, never got its claws into me, fortunately. But many young gays are damaged by hostile faiths and their adherents--some to the point of suicide.

Back then it was the goal of all my senior friends ..get married ..have a family
I know, Rose; things in the 1950's and 1960's were VERY different, and not very good for girls. In those days, girls were only encouraged in the marriage and family direction. College and career? Not so much. Even for the women who were in certain job fields, they were often blatantly discriminated against, like the stewardesses who were forced out of work when they hit the "ripe old age" of 32.

Have you seen the PBS documentary "MAKERS?" If not, I highly recommend it, to ALL girls and women.

REALLY. Got any statistics to back up your rather lame assertion? Get back to me when you find some, and NOT some biased "statistics" from some faith-based site.

Sorry, G (not really), I'm just not buying your "it's the girls pressuring the guys into having sex" line. And you will NEVER convince me that teen pregnancy and teen motherhood is a good thing for girls, especially those who have had drug and alcohol problems as teenagers. As far as I'M concerned, there's NOTHING good about getting pregnant and having a baby as a teenager. All it does is rob girls of good education and good employment, leaving them dependent, on either their parents or the government, for support.

The way I see it, teen sex is a BAD IDEA, and a teen girl is much better off by DUMPING any guy who pressures her to have sex. Guys who pressure girls for sex aren't worth keeping around as boyfriends.

No doubt religion has caused much harm, since when one is faced with it, they either believe they can't. Be "good " enough to measure up, "and they can't., gay or not ",or the fool themselves into believing God is pleased with them, as long as they attend church, and do whatever is on their churches "list " of must do's.

Many gays have thought "what is wrong with me??? "
Many non gays have thought the same.

That's. The whole point behind why God came to do what we never could.
His gift was for all, gay or not.

His gift is accepted by gays and non gays.
His gift is rejected by gays and non gays.

We agree teen sex is a bad idea, but these girls I. Know, now have a baby and working on ged. Or high school diploma. These girls could've. Had an abortion, and would still be drop outs, taken care of by parents, state, jails.

If parents wouldn't. Let 15 yo's date, and watch their children, then they wouldn't. Face sex or pregnancy.

I can give you plenty stats on what's. Happened. To the family unit since the 50's.

Plus wasn't. Trying. To say all girls pressure guys, but waaay more now than back then.

You should update. Yourself. On what teens are doing. You may be shocked.

OOh Ocean...you are so clueless as to hos things have changed over the years. While boys have always pressured girls to have sex, today the girls are just as bad. When i wss a teen, my gf had a huge crush on my brother. She propositioned him for years. My brother, although attracted to her and tempted, was turned off by her aggressive behaviour. I dated a guy for a short time in HS whk didn't have sex with anyone. We got along great. He was very handsome and i recall many girls from his school chasing him. When we broke up, a girl who was very popular got him to date her. She had her eye on him and told me flat out that he'd be hers. They dated and told me that she was going to demand sex from him. She got it.

For years my sons have been telling me how crazy girls are today. They are super aggressive and push hard for sex. My sons sre turned off by it. Its like girls act like the guys once did-looking for a quick bootie call. Its very hard for my sons to stay sex free when girls throw themselves at guys.

SOMETHING is definately wrong. I tell them that the young are desperately searching for ANY attention..ANY form of love or to be wanted. They can't judge them. But it is difficult to stay...um..sex free today.
I worked i a HS and was very close to the students. Shockingly, i found girls to be very over sexed. I had many conversations with my own to see the similarity in their peers. One pretty 10th grader used to tell me that she was horny and wanted to score. I became a therapist instead of staff with these kids. I was in my early 30s at the time so they felt free to talk to me. They didnt see that i was a mother of older kids until my kids visited me there. I learned MUCH there as to the minds and party scenes from these kids and my kids new it. They knew that i knew MUCH. Everywhere we went i ran into those kids while with my own. The kids would hug me, jump on my back...fill me in on their lives and my kids thought it was strange and funny.

Needless to say,we have a real problem in society today. Kids are exposed to sex on tv...movies....parents bad examples of hooking up with gf/bf ..... Giving BC to them isnt the answer. Addressing the core problem is. Parents need to be better examples. MANY are absent from the home(a deep problem that many kids shared with me...which left them feeling abandoned and misguided).

I think tbat it's sad that soiety has given up on our youth. They have NO faith in the concept of self control. We live in a feel good at all costs and then when the consequences hit, they search for a magic pill to take it away.

Think about it. We over eat, gain weight and then pay hundreds (while endangering our lives) to take the fat away or to staple or remove our bellies.

We drink in excess and then destroy our lives and others around us..even drinking and driving -killing innocent people. The we blame our genes for it.

We over spend our money that we dont have and then think that we deserve bail outs.Getting in even mlre debt.

We get our jollies out sexually then kill our babies because it's inconvenient to mother them.

Contraception is a magic potion to allow hs to be sexually free crom any responsibility, commitment and consequnence of self seeking sexual pleasure. Kids should be guided and taught morls. They arent and so society has given up on them. Handing them tools to be able to participate in bad and negative behaviour is sinful.

HERE IS SOMETHING
interesting

An independent charity monitor

http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm...

My fave h as a four star rating ..meaning they use very little money for administration and fund raising

LOOK UP YOUR FAVE ..You can type it in up top or they have an A Z directory.

This site is in no way Christian ..their faves seem to be secular ..

But SAMARITANSPURSE.org . offering is at every disaster site ..has their highest rating .

They were in DARFUR BEFORE any one heard of it .

Their being targeted might be explained by this article

FOO posted ..

It's really interesting especially the second part which surprised me but shouldn't have

http://www.aish.com/ci/s/52292422.html...

MINE got targeted by I R S along with other Christian and Pro ISRAEL orgs.

Both. Come on Grandma...wake up.

It goes both ways. Boys are using girls and girls are using boys. It's not an intentional thing IMO. Like I said, these kids are searching for love, attention and acceptance from anyone..at any cost.

Teens are notorious for getting into risky situation due to peer pressure to "fit in". But this today is wayyyy beyond it.
