Mitt Romney goes bold (and risky) with Paul Ryan vice presidential pick

Aug 11, 2012 Full story: Washington Post 2,266

The news that Mitt Romney is expected to name Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his vice presidential nominee today in Norfolk, Virginia amounts to a decidedly bold stroke for the typical risk-averse GOP presidential candidate, a pick that will almost certainly turn the race into a choice between two competing - and strikingly contrasting - visions for ... From what I've read, Paul Ryan's budget plan (endorsed by Romney) will dramatically increase the cost of Medicare. Am I missing something? My grandparents are both on Medicare. Thanks.
Ryan's plan will not drastically increase the cost of medicare, it will SAVE medicare, scheduled to run out of money in about 10 years. Your grandparents will not see ANY change in their medicare, all changes will apply only to people born AFTER 1957 and, again, will enable them to HAVE medicare when they are older.

YOU are missing EVERYTHING, apparently you have gotten your information from the DNC talking points, all lies by the way. Ryan's plan will not touch anyone currently on medicare, not one person now on medicare will be affected. The changes only apply to people who were born AFTER 1957. It's a pity that so many of you simply see the attack ads and believe they are true. Haven't you guys wised up to the fact that this administration would rather tell a lie than present the truth to you? EVERYTHING they said about Ryan's plan was an outright lie. Look it up for yourself.

Look at how stupid this quote is, and did they indeed cut spending in any of these agencies. Yes, with a brain like yours I'm sure you will vote for Obama again. A true misguided liberal you are.

Ryan thinks that it should be YOUR job to support your parents and grandparents until they die and pay all their medical bills. How much money would that leave you to support your own family?
The whole reason we have social security is so their children are not suck with paying their way into old old.
It is beyond evil to attempt to support the budget of the United States on the backs of the elderly, the weak, and the poor. Ryan's plan to demolish Social Security is one of the worst cases of bad faith that anyone in the Government has ever contemplated. For that reason, a victory of Obama in November is needed more than ever.

I hope and pray on November 6th 2012 that every poll in every Kuntservatard state , District in America be plagued by 1000 or more black kids to mob them and have ten or more Black panthers at the poles to educate the tards. Our future as gays blacks Mexican Americans Muslims are counting on this. A romney win will only mean retribution to these groups of Americans. A Romney win would also mean the possible secession of California New York Conneticut

Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the SLOWEST PACE since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s.

Even Herbert Hoover managed to increase spending more than Obama has.

Here are the facts, according to the official government statistics:

• In the 2009 fiscal year — the last of George W. Bush’s presidency — federal spending rose by 17.9% from $2.98 trillion to $3.52 trillion. Check the official numbers at the Office of Management and Budget.

• In fiscal 2010 — the first budget under Obama — spending fell 1.8% to $3.46 trillion.

• In fiscal 2011, spending rose 4.3% to $3.60 trillion.

• In fiscal 2012, spending is set to rise 0.7% to $3.63 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office’s estimate of the budget that was agreed to last August.

• Finally in fiscal 2013 — the final budget of Obama’s term — spending is scheduled to fall 1.3% to $3.58 trillion. Read the CBO’s latest budget outlook.

But hey, just keep on drinking the conservative Kool-Aid.
Gulp! Gulp!

Look how spun the government is. The government promised EVERYONE Social Security and Medicare all these years. Now they are saying only if you were born in 57 or earlier, you might get it. Good luck with that. I was born in 1957 and had I not gone on SS this year, I would never have gotten either or Medicare and yet I worked for 30 years and made over 50K so I paid a lot in and I paid federal taxes too. So here in one day, I could have lost a lifetime of SS and Medicare. This is WHY you can't depend on the government for anything. One day they give you something, the next day it is gone.

I had dental care through the state for years which I never used and now it's gone. CA went broke so they cancelled it. One day you are promised SS and Medicare, the next day if you were born in 1957, like I was, you could could lose all of it. This is the problem with trying to depend on a bankrupt country. Who is to say that they won't change it again and end it on everyone?? If they could end it on everyone born before 57, they can change it again and cut everyone off. One day you're in, the next day your out.
