She sure is mavericky though.

Her leaving politics for good is a sad day for comedians.

There has never been a US President who was a former Governor that resigned because of ethics violations-EVER and there never will be but you just hold on to your fantasies. At least you've still got them.

Good move, Sarah. Just in time to hook up with Sanford. No, I mean as a 2012 running mate, not what you're thinking.

My guess: She wants to spend more time with her family, and her grandchildren by her unmarried kids.

Politician don't resigns from office just like that. It would be understandable if she said she was not going to run for reelection, but dropping out in the middle of her term as governor?

Only AA is for quitters... As you mentioned, only people who are caught in illegal actions, or improprieties in their private lives, or DIE, end up quitting midstream of a simple governorship....

She may have a good following of the ultra extreme christian conservative right, but how could anyone ever vote for someone who couldn't finish out her term as the governor with great military expense and foreign policy, "because she can see Russia from her bedroom"...

the right had better start looking at Romney... he is a fiscal conservative, but doesn't have this kind of baggage, but you conservatives won't vote for him because he doesn't wear his religion on his sleeve

All those trivial, frivolous charges were dismissed.
Sarah was honorable enough to not continue to saddle the Alaskan people though any more of the silly charges that cost Alaska millions, and distracted from the business of the governor's office.
Sarah has always put the people of Alaska before her own interests... Something totally lost on those in Washington DC ... and scares the he** out of them.

Yeah ... like this won't be followed by "shocking disclosures" of some multiple-felony count crimes or some Sanfordesque violation of her vaunted "moral superiority."

Let the laughs and the faux self-righteous indignation begin.

I think it's legal problems -- indictment to follow? But if it is not legal problems -- I do hope that the republicans keep running her for office, McCain lost the WH because of her.

Not running again makes sense; the days of being America's most popular Governor are LONG over. There is an article in yesterday's Christian Science Monitor full of Alaskan voters griping about her not keeping her mind on her job.

http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/0...

But quitting? Not good if she plans to run for President. Finishing the term is better than bailing before the commitment is over (barring a personal emergency). If she's simply bailing, it will come back to haunt her.

Maybe she'll move to Washington or California, and go on TV. She'll have time to write books, be on Fox, fill in for Rush, etc.

Or maybe the fight with David Letterman drained her of the will to go on.

Nobody quits a governorship and puts Letterman under the gun, unless the skeleton will start to creep out...

Ironic thing about this, is that the right will blame "liberals" for this, but there has been many releases of previously unknown information about Palin..From the McCain election camp...This week....so the right can blame themselves for putting together the worst duo in the history of elections.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Taurus

This is a day for turning your attention to your finances, especially if you're currently working on the budget for domestic improvements or changes. Talk to the other people concerned and really listen to what they're saying. They'll have some great insights. It will be far more productive to work as a harmonious team rather than as warring factions.
