Obama's church addresses controversy

“What's happened has opened up an opportunity to learn more about the prophetic ministry of Trinity United Church and of our awesome pastor Dr. Jeremiah Wright”

The new pastor of Barack Obama's Chicago church said during Easter Sunday services that recent national scrutiny of the church is a test that will only make the congregation stronger. via Ann Arbor News

Had this been a white or Latino church they would have lost their charter, affiliation status and probably had been picketed daily. The squeaky wheels get oiled. This is now 2 incidences by people extremely close to Senator Obama, the other was his wife and her "proud" to be an American comments.
And another thing, It sure doesn't look like Pastor Wright was looking too hungry, undervalued or underpaid for having lived in such a bad place. Plenty of airlines flying out of the US daily.

What concerns me even moreso, is the possible nomination of Barack Obama as a contender for president of the United States. What does this say for the American people, especially Democrats.

Reverse the terms Black Man and White Man and listen to the same sermon. The KKK could not survive with such a ville church. No white man could have been elected into ANY public office visiting a church such as this more than 2 times much less 20 years!

The Churches in the Church of Christ denomination are independent and not governed by the denomination, but surly The Church of Christ could kick this Church out of the organization if it is an embarrassment to them. The denomination is better then the representation this foul church presents. Wright is not "Church of Christ' unless they allow this apostasy to continue.

Christian Churches (not Disciples of Christ) and Churches of Christ are autonomous and don't answer to any hierarchy. Although, I do believe the congregation in question is a part of the United Churches of Christ, a totally different animal. They could boot him, but I'd guess his church is a large giver and that sometimes requires overlooking "indiscretions." And it's also a good guess they've already unloaded him and the congregation kept the name rather than change the charter.

Rest assured,

Trinity United Church of Christ is not part of the Independent Churches of Christ. Most of the Independent Churches of Christ, are non-instrumental.

Obama's church is not part.

I'm sure earlpittsamurican is absolutley correct.

I saw that. He typed dang near the whole book of John into half a dozen posts. Won't do any good. They have their minds made up that they are smarter than anybody else and it will be an incredible blow to their egos when they realize they are wrong.

I lurk occasionally, too. They are laughing it up and telling each other, they won. I hope that makes them feel better. The really miss us.

I can just almost hear them say a particularly four letter word in unison.

I really enjoy you guys.

I think we're all on the same page.

I don't plan to get duped into that kinda thing again.

I might do some hit and run comments, but we all know that all the typing and back forth with those folks was for nill.

I did go into that thread and read what they were saying about being victorious.
They were doing there little victory dance.

Oh well, perhaps one or both will come to know Christ before it's too late for them.

Rick, I could also tell that CAG had been lying as well. He's not 16 years old. No way.

Happened in to read this story only to find you three rednecks are still at it. What a state of affairs you three represent.

JWesleyHarding,

With a name like that, wow, you must be something.
Wesley has a nice ring. Reminds me of John Wesley who was the founder of the Methodist denomination, before they went wacko.

Harding was a President.

Is the initial "J" for jerk?

I have no idea what your comments were about.
You typed two sentences and made two verbal insults.

Are you one of these hit and run people.

I take it, you are not a redneck. And your two itty-bitty sentences suggest you must be some elitist left-wing demogogue.

What a state of affairs you represent.

Please define 'redneck.' Now don't look into the mirror when you do.
