Dan Pompei's NFL mock draft

Full story: Chicago Tribune

With the combine in the books and the big free-agent fish reeled in, it's becoming easier to make sense of the first round of the draft.

As a Pats fan it always interests/amuses me to see what/who they are projected to choose.

(I know you didn't ask but) let me offer this prediction -(Keep in mind that 2 years ago they swapped their 4th rounder for Randy Moss and last year they swapped their #7 overall and dropped down to #10 and STILL got the defensive rookie of the year plus an extra 2nd rounder) the Pats have 4 choices in the 1st 58.

I predict: they will make a package of their 1st round choice,#23 and one of their 2nd rounders and move up, maybe in single digits, and pick a stud or make a trade for an active player.

And STILL have two 2nd rounders. The rich get richer because they are SMARTER

The problem with the Bears is Jerry Angelo!! Lovie only gets what he provides for him, poor lovie. Lovie cant keep squeezing blood from Turnips, for crying out loud! Angelo kisses butt and saves the McCaskeys millions & throws Lovie under the bus. Lovie is a great coach & I guarantee we are going to lose him to the Cowboys(his Home town) in the next year or two. Lovie got 9 wins out of this scrap heap team last year, but you cant keep doing that. Reality will set in if Angelo doesnt give lovie some damn playmakers for a change. Angelo resigns his own players, cause it is safe. He thinks because free agents Lloyd and Booker failed, means he cant do free agency anymore, even though they were fill in guys at best. The fans deserve better, especially when there is so much cap space available. Building through the draft is smart, but you use free agency to fill in holes, but Angelo does nothing. If he is paranoid & gun shy,he should hang it up then and not be a G.M. You have to be aggressive & take chances in sports, that is how it is. If we are indeed close as he says, then we should have signed some key free agents to put us over the top,so we win more games. Angelo tries to trick us by talking in circles as to why he does nothing. He is no more than a used car salesman. The Chicago Bears in a huge market city, deserves better. We should compete to be the best team every year. George Halas would be ashamed of how the franchise is being run,by these greedy yo yo's. The Fans want the Monsters of the midway back!! The cap space is there to spend to make our team better. If there is alot of cap space, then we are not doing the best we can to put a winning team on the field. Regardless of the cost,we pay for it anyways!! Angelo needs to do the right thing and step down as the general manager. GO BEARS!!

I like English but would take Matthews if he is there #25 English will take time to get used to the 34 D we run and has never played OLB Matthews plays in a NFL style D at USC and has played OLB and could start right away but English is a better athlete and more upside I just worry he might not adjust to 34OLB Golston of the jets was a DE comming out of college and was drafted to play 34OLB but has not got the hang of it yet and English reminds me alot of Golston Im not saying Golston or English will not be good players but they might not be 34OLB more of a 43DE only time will tell anyway good mock draft and I would not be upset if we took English with the 1st pick#25 Bill and Co know a 34OLB when they see one thats for sure and if they select English that means they see what he is capable of
